Abstract

Producción de etanol en un reactor de lecho apilado que contiene un primer catalizador y un segundo catalizador, en el que los primeros y segundos catalizadores contiene, por lo menos un metal del Grupo VIII, y en donde el segundo catalizador está sustancialmente libre de cobre. El producto etanol en bruto se puede separar y se puede recuperar el etanol.Reivindicación 1: Un procedimiento para producir etanol, que comprende las etapas de: introducción del ácido acético y el hidrógeno en un reactor de lecho múltiple que tiene un primer lecho que contiene un primer catalizador y un segundo lecho que contiene un segundo catalizador para producir un producto crudo de etanol, en donde el primer catalizador y el segundo catalizador son diferentes y cada uno contiene, por lo menos un metal del Grupo VIII o un óxido del mismo sobre un soporte, en donde el metal del Grupo VIII se selecciona del grupo que consiste en cobalto, rodio, rutenio, platino, paladio, osmio, e iridio; y recuperar el etanol a partir del producto etanol en bruto en una o más columnas.
