Description
Fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av cyclohexylammcyclohexylsulfamat.
Nærværende oppfinnelse vedrører
fremstillingen av cyclohexylamin-cyclohexylsulfamat som er prekursor for fremstillingen av cyclohexylsulfaminsyre. Alka-li- og jordalkalisaltene av denne syre anvendes i stor utstrekning som kunstig søt-ningsmiddel.
Cyclohexylamin-cyclohexylsulfamat
har hittil hovedsakelig vært fremstilt ved å
behandle cyclohexylamin med sulfaminsyre eller natriumklorsulfamat. Disse pro-sesser, til tross for de er basert på en
direkte omsetning, er meget kostbare på
grunn av anvendelsen av dyre utgangsma-terialer, sulfaminsyre henholdsvis natriumklorsulfamat, og mere økonomiske
fremgangsmåter for fremstillingen av cyclohexylsulfaminsyre og dens salter har derfor vært ettersøkt i mange år.
I nyere tid er det blitt foreslått å
behandle cyclohexylamin med svovelsyre-anhydrid, som resulterer i dannelsen av
cyclohexylamin-cyclohexylsulfamat, som
på sin side, i nærvær av et alkalihydroxyd,
spalter seg til alkalisaltet av cyclohexylsulfaminsyre. Disse reaksjoner finner sted
etter de følgende ligninger:
Nærværende oppfinnelse vedrører det
første trinn i foran angitte reaksjon. Ifølge
(147304) 1 blad tegninger.
nærværende oppfinnelse er hurtig og kontinuerlig fremstilling av aminsaltet mulig med meget høye omdannelsesgrader.
Ifølge litteraturen er denne reaksjon ganske eksoterm, og reaksjonen må kjøles kraftig for å forebygge lokal overoppvar-ming for å forebygge en sidereaksjon som skjer etter følgende ligning
Reaksjonen gjengitt med ligning 3 gir bis-cyclohexylaminsulfon, i det følgende betegnet «sulfon» for enkelhets skyld. Det er et uønsket biprodukt som ikke bare re-duserer utbyttet av det ønskede aminsalt, men også forårsaker at oppløsningen som inneholder det ønskede aminsalt blir meget vanskelig å opparbeide.
Det er derfor et formål med nærværende oppfinnelse å fremskaffe en fremgangsmåte for fremstillingen av cyclohexylamin-cyclohexylsulfamat, i det følgende betegnet som «aminsalt», ved hvilken dannelsen av «sulfon» såvel som sulfat i det vesentlige undertrykkes. Et annet formål er å fremskaffe en fremgangsmåte for fremstillingen av foran nevnte «aminsalt» i høye utbytter. Et ytterligere formål er å fremskaffe en ny fremgangsmåte for fremstillingen av foran nevnte «aminsalt» som ut-merker seg ved en enestående renhet. Andre formål vil fremgå av den følgende beskrivelse og etterfølgende påstander.
Disse formål oppnås ved å omsette tørt cyclohexylamin med tørt svoveltrioxyd i en reaksjonssone under turbulens og ved en temperatur over 70° C, idet forholdet mellom reaksjonskomponentene er valgt slik at cyclohexylamin er tilstede i en mengde ti ganger mengden av svoveltrioxyd bereg-net på molekular basis.
Det er blitt funnet, mot forventning, at foran nevnte temperaturbegrensning er nødvendig for å oppnå høye utbytter av særlig rent aminsalt. Ifølge tidligere funn måtte denne eksoterme reaksjon kontrol-leres på slik måte at den oppnådde mak-simumstemperatur ikke overstiger 50° C, og fortrinnsvis skulle være betraktelig under denne grense. Imidlertid, etter forelig-gende fremgangsmåte oppnås meget bedre og helt uventede resultater ved å utføre denne reaksjon innen et bestemt, høyere temperaturområde som tidligere ble be-traktet som uanvendelig for denne eksoterme prosess.
Fremgangsmåten etter oppfinnelsen utføres ved over 70° C. og under spaltningstemperaturen for «aminsaltet». Denne spaltningstemperatur er ca. 193° C, slik at reaksjonen fortrinnsvis utføres mellom 70 og 190° C. Svoveltrioxydet fortynnes fortrinnsvis med en inert gass slik som nitrogen eller tørr luft.
Oppfinnelsen vil lettere forstås i for-bindelse med tegningen som viser et strøm-ningsskjema. Dette strømningsskjema gjengir en semi-kontinuerlig utførelses-form for fremgangsmåten.
Nitrogengass fra sylinderen 1 strøm-mer gjennom forbindelsesrøret 2 påsatt manometeret 3 gjennom strømningsmåle-ren 4 til flere gasstørrere fylt med silicagel eller lignende tørremidler, hvorfra gassen ledes gjennom forbindelsesrøret 6 til en fordamper 7 for svoveltrioxyd som inneholder en forutbestemt mengde svoveltrioxyd. Varmekappen 8 gir den nødvendige varme for å fordampe svoveltrioxyd som1 blandes i forbindelsesrøret 9 med det tørre nitrogen og strømmer til ejektoren 10 hvor det blandes med resirkulert cyclohexylamin i et molart forhold på mellom 1—10 og 1—200. Forbindelsesrøret 11 fører reaksjonsblandingen til lagringskaret 12 som er utstyrt med en varmemantel 13. Lagringskaret 12 er en 3-halset flaske forsynt med væske-utløpsrør 17 forbundet med termometeret 18 og et gassutløpsrør 14. Blandingen av dannede reaksjonsprodukter, f. eks. «aminsalt» og cyclohexylamin resirkuleres gjennom pumpen 19 tilbake til ejektoren 10. Utsluppet gass som hovedsakelig består av nitrogen, men også inneholder noe fordampet cyclohexylamin og finfordelt «aminsalt» føres gjennom sikkerhetsflasken 15 til en liten ejektor 16. Fra denne ejektor ledes avløpsgassene gjennom gassvæske-anordningen 20 til en 3-halset flaske 21 som inneholder cyclohexylamin eller vann 22. Utløpsrøret 23 for væskene gir forbin-delse over resirkuleringspumpen 24 tilbake til ejektoren 16. Utløpsrøret 25 fører den rensede, avdekkede bæregassen til avløpet. Gassvaskeren 20 kan være en pakket kolonne, en Vigreuxkolonne eller et lignende system som gir en stor kontaktflate.
Resirkulas j onssystemet 10-11-12-17-19-10 inneholder opprinnelig cyclohexylamin i et 10- til 30-gangers molart over-skudd over den molare mengde svoveltrioxyd i fordamperen 7. Når tørr nitrogengass som bærer svoveltrioxydgassen til ejektoren 10 kommer i kontakt med cyclohexylaminet fra foran angitte resirkula-sjonssystem, inntrer momentan reaksjon mellom svoveltrioxyd og cyclohexylamin i ejektoren 10. Forbindelsesrøret 11 fører en blanding av overskytende cyclohexylamin og dannet «aminsalt» til lagringsbeholde-ren 12. Reaksjonen avbrytes når alt svoveltrioxydet er fordampet.
Under resirkulasjonsbehandlingen og reaksjonsperioden oppvarmes varmekappen 13 på slik måte at den resirkulerende cyclohexylamin/aminsaltblanding holdes ved en temperatur mellom 70 og 190° C. Hvis det resirkulerende cyclohexylamin holdes ved en temperatur over sitt nor-male kokepunkt på 134,5° C, må systemet selvfølgelig holdes under trykk. Etter av-slutning av reaksjonen kjøles lagringskaret 12, hvorpå mesteparten av dannet «aminsalt» krystalliserer. Oppslemning av
«aminsalt»krystaller og overskytende cyclohexylamin sentrifugeres derpå kaldt. Den overstående væske som fremdeles inneholder en liten andel «aminsalt» kan gjenanvendes i en senere reaksjon.
Eksempel 1.
Ved anordningen på fig. 1 satses den to-liters, 3-halsede flaske (12) med rund bunn med 1000 ml tørr cyclohexylamin. Cyclohexylaminet resirkuleres derpå over pumpen (19) til ejektoranordningen (10) og varmes opp til 70° C, fra varmemantel (13). Den 3-halsede flaske (21) tilsettes 1000 ml cyclohexylamin.
I fordamperen 7 innføres 10 ml flytende svoveltrioxyd og oppvarmes utenfra ved varmemantelen (8). Nitrogen, ved et trykk noe over atmosfærisk trykk og tørret over silicagelkolonner (5), føres gjennom fordamperen med ca. 5,1 liter/minutt. Damper av svoveltrioxyd (ca. 0,31 g/mi-nutt) sammen med nitrogen (SO;i-konsen-trasjon på ca. 4,5 vektsprosent) suges til ejektor (10). Reaksjon mellom cyclohexylamin og svoveltrioxyd finner sted umid-delbart i ejektoren. «Aminsaltet» som dan-nes slik resirkuleres sammen med cyclohexylamin. Avløpsgassene vaskes i kolon-nen 20 med resirkulerende cyclohexylamin.
Etter ca. en time er alt svoveltrioxyd fordampet. Reaksjons- og vaskevæskene
blandes og cyclohexylaminet destilleres fra og erstattes med vann slik som vist i detalj i eksempel 3. Den vandige oppløsning un-dersøkes på sulfatforurensninger. Analy-sen er 84,7 pst. «aminsalt», 14,8 pst. cyclohexylaminsulfat på tørr basis og 0,5 pst. bis-cyclohexylaminsulf on.
Ved en gjentagelse av denne fremgangsmåte er mengden av svoveltrioxyd ikke begrenset. Fremgangsmåten kan fortsettes inntil det resirkulerende cyclohexylamin inneholder en total på ca. 15 vektsprosent faste stoffer. Ved en reaksjons-temperatur på 135° C kan reaksjonen fortsettes inntil den resirkulerende fase inneholder ca. 20 pst. faste stoffer. For økonomisk arbeide skal fremgangsmåten alltid fortsettes inntil reaksjonsblandingen inneholder minst 5 vektsprosent totalt faste stoffer.
Eksempel 2.
Ved å utføre foran nevnte reaksjon ved 110° C. med 0,21 g svoveltrioxyd og 2 liter/minutt nitrogen, er det analyserte utbytte 85,2 pst. «aminsalt», 12,6 pst. cyclohexylaminsulfat og 2,2 pst. bis-cyclohexylaminsulfon.
Ved en gjentagelse av dette eksempel ved 100° C. oppnås i det vesentlige identisk fordeling av produkt og biprodukt.
Eksempel 3.
En blanding fra et lignende forsøk
som beskrevet i eksempel 2 som inneholder 52 g «aminsalt», 8 g cyclohexylaminsulfat og en mengde på mindre enn 2 g sulfon og ca. 900 ml cyclohexylamin konsentreres til et volum på ca. 500 ml. Til dette konsentrat tilsettes 2000 ml vann og det gjenværende cyclohexylamin destilles av azetropisk. Den vandige oppløsning be-handles derpå med ca. 15 g aktivert car-bon, filtreres og konsentreres til et volum på ca. 400 ml. Etter avkjøling filtreres de
dannede krystaller av «aminsalt» av, vaskes med vann og tørres. Med filtratet gjentas denne konsentrasjonsbehandling, av-kjøling og filtrering for å oppnå et annet utbytte. Denne prosess gjentas inntil de oppnådde krystaller ved analyse viser en målbar mengde cyclohexylaminsulfat. De første fire krystallisasjoner er alle sulfat-frie og gir et total på 48,2 g rent, sulfat-fritt og sulfonfritt cyclohexylamin-cyclohexylsulfamat eller 93 pst. av det teore-tiske.
Eksempel 4.
Ved et forsøk lignende det som er beskrevet i eksempel 1 ble de følgende betin-gelser anvendt: nitrogentemperatur 108° C, cyclohexylamintemperatur 145° C, molforhold mellom cyclohexylamin og svoveltrioxyd 152 : 1, svoveltrioxydmengde 9,5 ml pr. minutt, nitrogenmengde 283 liter pr. minutt. Etter 6 timer ble prosessen av-brutt og reaksjonsblandingen opparbeidet og analysert som foran. De faste stoffer gir 91,5 pst. «aminsalt», 8,6 pst. cyclohexylaminsulfat og 0,9 pst. «sulfon».
Skjønt foranstående eksempler er ret-tet på en halvkontinuerlig prosess med resirkulerende cyclohexylamin som inneholder (i det minste etter en kort reaksjons-periode) en vesentlig mengde (aminsalt», kan fremgangsmåten også utføres på en måte hvorved cyclohexylaminet ikke resirkuleres. Ved denne modifikasjon injiseres det forvarmede cyclohexylamin i en turbu-lerende reaksjonssone sammen med den egnede mengde svoveltrioxyd. Sistnevnte er fortrinnsvis fortynnet med en inert gass slik som nitrogen. Reaksjonsblandingen føres derpå gjennom en oppvarmet kolonne som gir stort kontaktareal for fjerning av medførte faste stoffer. Denne kolonne kan være fylt med Raschigringer eller kan in-neholde nettingplater eller lignende. Blandingen trer derpå inn i en væske/gasskille-anordning som skiller produktoppslemnin-gen eller oppløsningen fra bæregassen som inneholder cyclohexylamindamper. Den flytende produktoppløsning eller oppslemning tas ut for ytterligere utvikling og cyclohexylamin gjenvinnes fra bæregassen ved vanlige midler. På denne måte gir nærværende fremgangsmåte en metode for kontinuerlig fremstilling av «aminsalt» av fremragende kvalitet og utbytte.
Fra foranstående beskrivelse vil det også være klart at ved å øke reaksjonstem-peraturen oppnås økede utbytter av «aminsalt», mens mengdene av biprodukter syn-ker i samme grad. Ved således å utføre nærværende fremgangsmåte ved ca. 100° C. eller over vil de beste resultater oppnås, skjønt fremgangsmåten lar seg gjennom-føre økonomisk ved 70° C. Det bearbeid-bare område på 70—190° C. gir «aminsalt»-utbytter vel over de som kunne ventes etter de kjente fremgangsmåter. Når utstyr anvendes som bare tillater arbeide ved lavt trykk, angis en praktisk øvre prosess-temperatur på ca. 150° C. Med utstyr som tillater høyere trykk, f. eks. over 1,5 kg/ cm2, kan temperaturer anvendes opp til like under spaltningstemperaturen for «aminsaltet». Reaks jordtemperaturer mellom 100 og 150° C. gir konstante utbytter av «aminsalter» over 80 pst. av det teore-tiske når det arbeides innenfor de betingel-ser som er angitt for fremgangsmåten.
Fra det foran anførte vil det være klart for fagmannen at det er viktig å ute-lukke vann eller annen fuktighet fra reak-sjonskaret, da vann har en stor affinitet overfor svoveltrioxyd og ville føre til dannelsen av biprodukter. Således skal cyclohexylaminet være tørt før det anvendes ved nærværende fremgangsmåte og bæregassen for svoveltrioxyd skal også være om-hyggelig tørret. Tørring av cyclohexylamin kan oppnås ved å bruke en av de kjente inerte tørremidler slik som bariumoxyd, silicagel, magnesiumsulfat etc. Den inerte gass tørres fortrinnsvis ved å la den boble gjennom sylindere fylt med tørremidler for den spesielle inerte gass som brukes, f. eks. natriumhydroxydpellets, silicagel, kon-sentrert svovelsyre og lignende.
Skjønt for enkelhets skyld nitrogengass i foranstående beskrivelse er angitt som bæregass for svoveltrioxyd, kan andre bæregasser brukes like godt. Blant disse gasser skal nevnes oxygen, luft, helium, krypton og lignende inerte gasser. Imidlertid, når luft anvendes som bæregass! skal carbondioxyd være fjernet fra denne, hvilket kan utføres ved å lede luften, før dennes anvendelse, gjennom en avfukt-ningskolonne som inneholder natriumhydroxydpellets. Svoveltrioxydet som anvendes ved fremgangsmåten etter nærværende oppfinnelse kan, hvis ønsket, være fortynnet med et inert fortynningsmiddel som er en væske ved romtemperatur og som er blandbar med cyclohexylamin.
For fagmannen vil det være klart at foran beskrevne fremgangsmåte kan ut-føres med en rekke mekaniske modifika-

- sjoner. Ved en av disse modifikasjoner finner kontakten mellom svoveltrioxyd og cyclohexylamin sted i en «Adjust-O-Film»-enhet (fremstilt av Kontro Co.) i hvilken en lignende turbulenseffekt oppnås med samtidig sentrifugering av re-aksjonsmaterialet til ytterveggene av denne «Adjust-O-Film»-enhet. Derfra tas opp-slemningen ut til en separeringsanordning fra hvilken den flytende fase, dvs. cyclohexylaminet, føres til en lagringstank, fra hvilken det resirkuleres til reaktoren etter å være blitt bragt til den ønskede reak-sjonstemperatur. Hvis ønsket kan separe-ringsanordningen erstattes av eller ha en konsentreringsanordning eller fordamper anordnet foran. Arbeide på denne måte gir en fullstendig kontinuerlig behandling ved hvilken reaksjonskomponentene igjen til-føres kontaktenheten i et forhold på minst 10 mol cyclohexylamin pr. mol svoveltrioxyd. Ved en ytterligere modifikasjon kan Venturirøret være etterfulgt av en pakket kolonne med motstrøm for væske og gass uten å forårsake dannelse av vesentlige mengder «sulfon» ifølge ligning 3 foran da resirkulerende cyclohexylamin inneholder en vesentlig mengde av «aminsalt» som kontinuerlig kommer i kontakt med svoveltrioxyd i ejektoren eller lignende anord-ning som gir turbulens.1. Fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av cyclohexylamincyclohexylsulfamat, hvor et cyclohexylamin bringes i kontakt med svoveltrioxyddamper, karakterisert v e d at minst 10 mol cyclohexylamin bringes i kontakt med 1 mol svoveltrioxyd i en reaksjonssone under turbulens ved en temperatur mellom 70 og 193° C.
- 2. Fremgangsmåte etter påstand 1, karakterisert ved at svoveltrioxydgassen fortynnes med en inert gass, fortrinnsvis nitrogen.
- 3. Fremgangsmåte etter påstand 1, karakterisert ved at reaksjonsblandingen resirkuleres til reaksjonssonen hvor behandlingen med svoveltrioxyd fortsettes inntil den resirkulrende fase inneholder minst 5 vektsprosent faste stoffer.
