Abstract
La presente descripción se refiere a sistemas y métodos mediante los cuales puede extraerse, purificarse, y utilizarse el plomo de baterías de plomo-ácido gastadas en la construcción de nuevas baterías de plomo-ácido. Un método (10) comprende la etapa de: (14) formar una primera mezcla en un primer recipiente, en donde la primera mezcla incluye un material que lleva plomo y una fuente de carboxilato, las cuales (16) reaccionan para precipitar las partículas de sal de plomo; (18) separar una porción de la primera mezcla del resto de la primera mezcla, en donde la porción incluye partículas de sal de plomo que tienen densidades especificas por debajo de un valor de umbral de densidad específica y/o que tienen tamaños de partícula por debajo de un valor de umbral de tamaño de partícula y forman una segunda mezcla en un segundo recipiente, en donde la segunda mezcla incluye las partículas de sal de plomo de la porción separada de la primera mezcla; (22) separar las partículas de sal de plomo de la segunda mezcla de un componente liquido de la segunda mezcla. El segundo recipiente puede configurarse para (20) ampliar las partículas de sal de plomo recibidas al hacer crecer y o aglomerar las partículas en una mezcla de crecimiento.
