시스템 개요

주 해상도에 대한 해상도들의 선택
상술된 것과 같이, 적응형 비트레이트 스트리밍 시스템들은 스트리밍 조건들에 의존하여 상이한 비트레이트들로 인코딩된 상이한 비디오 스트림들 간에 전환하는 것을 수반한다. 상이한 해상도들로 인코딩된 대안적인 비디오 스트림들을 이용하는 적응형 스트리밍 시스템에 있어서, 각 스트림의 해상도는 소정의 비트레이트의 인코딩된 비디오의 재생 품질에 기초하여 선택될 수 있다. 본 발명의 실시예들에 따라 비디오 스트림들에 대한 해상도들을 선택하기 위한 일반적인 처리가 도 2에 도시되어 있다. 처리(200)는 소정의 화면 비에 기초하여 주 해상도를 선택함으로써(210) 시작된다. 예를 들면, 16:9의 화면 비에 대해서, 본 발명의 많은 실시예들에 있어서, 주 해상도는 1920×1080 화소들이다. 폭에 의한 모든 높이 및 폭 조합들을 결정하기 위해서(212), 주 해상도의 폭은 한번에 한 라인씩 감소될 수도 있고 대응하는 높이는 화면 비를 새로운 폭에 적용함으로써 계산된다. 몇몇 실시예들에 있어서, 이미지의 폭은 8 화소들의 배수이어야 한다. 다수의 실시예들에 있어서, 계산된 높이는 가장 가까운 정수 값으로 반올림될 수도 있다. 많은 실시예들에 있어서, 높이 및 폭 조합들의 결정(212)은 폭이 320 화소들과 같은 미리 결정된 최소 폭에 도달할 때까지 반복된다. 주 해상도의 폭 및 높이 조합들을 결정하기 위해서(214), 동일한 처리가 높이에 대해 위와 같이 이용될 수 있다. 위와 같이, 몇몇 실시예들에 있어서, 높이는 8 화소들의 배의 높이이다. 그렇지만, 다른 실시예들에 있어서, 최종 이미지의 폭들 및 높이들은 2 또는 4 화소들의 배수와 같이 다수의 화소들의 임의의 배수로서 규정될 수 있다.
해상도들의 세트가 폭 및 높이 모두를 이용하여 결정되면, 리스트들이 조합되고(216) 임의의 중복되는 폭 및 높이들이 제거된다. 중복된 해상도들이 제거되면, 어떤 해상도들이 선택되는지(218)를 결정하기 위해 계산된 폭 및 높이들이 주 폭 및 높이와 비교된다. 본 발명의 많은 실시예들에 있어서, 높이 및 폭 모두가 주 해상도의 높이 및 폭의 자연수 분수들로서 표현될 수 있는 계산된 해상도들이 선택되고(218), 여기서, 분자 또는 분모는 100과 같은 미리 결정된 수보다 작다. 상술된 처리를 이용하는 본 발명의 실시예에 따라 계산된 해상도들 및 비율들의 세트(500)의 일 예가 도 5에 도시되어 있다. 예를 들면, 하나의 폭 및 높이 조합은 1280×720이며, 이것은 주 해상도 1920×1080에 대해 2/3의 폭 비율 및 2/3의 높이 비율이다. 많은 실시예들에 있어서, 1280×720은 1920×1080의 주 해상도에 대한 서브-해상도로서 선택될 것이다(218). 그러나, 1888×1062와 같은 해상도는 선택되지 않을 것이며, 이는 1888을 1920으로 나누는 것이나 1062를 1080으로 나누는 것 모두가 자연수의 분수들을 이용하여서는 표현될 수 없기 때문이며, 여기서 분자와 분모 모두는 100보다 각각 작다. 다른 실시예들에 있어서, 자연수의 분수들은 모두 10 또는 1000 보다 작을 수도 있거나, 분자가 10보가 작고 분모가 1000 보다 작을 수도 있으며, 그 반대도 마찬가지이다.

주 해상도들의 조합에 대한 해상도들의 선택
멀티미디어 콘텐트에 포함된 비디오 데이터는 종종 특정 해상도 및 화면 비로 생성된다. 그러나, 다양한 디스플레이 디바이스들 상에서 멀티미디어 콘텐트를 디스플레이하는 것이 바람직하고; 이들 디스플레이 디바이스들은 비디오 데이터와 동일한 해상도 또는 화면 비를 갖고 있지 않을 수도 있다. 적응형 스트리밍 시스템에 있어서, 비디오 데이터는 소스 멀티미디어 콘텐트의 디스플레이시의 일관성 레벨을 유지하기 위해서 상이한 화면 비들을 갖는 다양한 주 해상도들로 인코딩될 수도 있다. 본 발명의 실시예들에 따른 다중 화면 비들을 갖는 비디오 스트림에 대한 해상도들을 선택하기 위한 일반적인 처리가 도 3에 도시되어 있다. 처리(300)는 다양한 화면 비들에 대한 주 해상도들의 세트를 결정함으로써(310) 시작된다. 예를 들면, 많은 실시예들에 있어서, (수반되는 화면 비를 갖는) 주 해상도들은 1920×1080(16:9) 1920×1040(1.85:1), 1920×816(2.35:1) 및 1920×800(2.4:1)일 수도 있다. 각 주 해상도에 대해서, 해상도들이 계산되고(312) 주 해상도에 대한 계산된 해상도의 비율이 결정된다(314). 본 발명의 많은 실시예들에 있어서, 상술된 처리는 각 주 해상도에 대한 계산된 해상도들 및 비율들을 결정하기 위해 이용될 수도 있다. 몇몇 실시예들에 있어서, 비율을 결정하는 단계(314)는 비율을, 계산된 해상도가 주 해상도와 비례하여 포함하는 백분율 면적이 1 유효 자릿수와 같은 미리 결정된 수의 유효 자릿수들로 반올림되는 것을 표현하는 백분율로 변환하는 것을 수반한다. 주 해상도들의 계산된 해상도들 간의 공통 비율들이 선택된다(316). 많은 실시예들에 있어서, 선택된 공통 비율들(316)은 모든 주 해상도들에 대해 공통일 것이다. 몇몇 실시예들에 있어서, 선택된 공통 비율들(316)은 4개의 주 해상도들 중 3개 5개의 주 해상도들 중 3개, 3개의 주 해상도들 중 2개와 같이 대다수의 주 해상도들에 대해 공통일 것이다. 공통 비율들이 선택되면, 대응하는 폭이 결정된다(318). 매치되는 비율이 없는 주 해상도들에 대해서, 가장 가까운 폭이 선택될 수도 있다. 다수의 실시예들에 있어서, 가장 가까운 폭은 4의 배수이어야 한다. 많은 실시예들에 있어서, 가장 가까운 폭은 8의 배수이어야 한다. 폭에 기초하여, 화면 비를 이용하여 대응하는 높이가 결정된다(320).

Claims (14)

  1. 프로세서 및 상기 프로세서에 의해 판독가능한 메모리를 포함하는 소스 인코더로서, 상기 메모리는 상기 프로세서가 주 비디오 스트림을 수신하고 주 비디오 스트림을 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트로 인코딩하도록 하는 인코딩 애플리케이션을 저장하는, 상기 소스 인코더에 있어서,
    상기 인코딩 애플리케이션은,
    주 비디오 스트림의 주어진 애스팩트 비에 기초해 주 해상도를 선택하고;
    주 해상도로부터 주어진 애스팩트 비에 대한 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합을 결정하는 것으로서, 상기 복수의 조합 각각은,
    높이 및 폭 조합의 제 1 의 높이 또는 폭에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하고,
    제 1 값에 대해 상기 주 스트림의 애스팩트 비를 적용하고,
    높이 및 폭 조합의 제 2 의 높이 및 폭에 대한 제 2 값을 결정하기 위해 애스팩트 비의 애플리케이션 결과를 근사 정수로 반올림하고,
    각각의 조합의 높이 및 폭은 정수의 화소들이고 주 해상도의 대응하는 폭 및 높이보다 작으며 선택된 조합의 폭 및 높이는 주 애스펙트 비와 실질적으로 동일한 애스펙트 비를 갖는,
    상기 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합을 결정하고;
    상기 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합의 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합의 높이 및 폭이 주 해상도의 높이 및 폭의 각각의 정수 분수인지 결정하고;
    높이 및 폭이 모두 주 해상도의 높이 및 폭의 정수 분수로 결정되는 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들로부터 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트에 대한 해상도의 세트를 선택하고;
    주 비디오 스트림으로부터 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트를 인코딩하는 것으로서, 대안적인 비디오 스트림들 각각이 해상도의 세트로부터의 상이한 해상도로 및 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트에서 나머지 비디오 스트림들의 상이한 비트레이트로 인코딩되는, 소스 인코더.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 값은 화소들의 폭이고, 인코더 애플리케이션은 폭에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하기 위해 이전의 폭으로부터 단일 화소를 감산하여, 프로세서가 폭에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하도록 하는, 소스 인코더.
  3. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 값은 화소들의 높이이고, 인코더 애플리케이션은 높이에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하기 위해 이전의 높이로부터 단일 화소를 감산하여, 프로세서가 높이에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하도록 하는, 소스 인코더.
  4. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    선택된 해상도의 세트는, 8의 배수인 높이 및 폭을 갖는 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들로부터 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합을 갖는, 소스 인코더.
  5. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    선택된 해상도의 세트는, 정사각형 샘플 애스펙트 비를 갖는 높이 및 폭 조합들을 갖는, 소스 인코더.
  6. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 인코더 애플리케이션은,
    복수의 대안적인 애스펙트 비들 각각에 대한 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들을 결정하는 것으로서, 대응하는 높이 및 폭 조합의 복수의 대안적인 애스펙트 비들 각각에 대해 복수의 높이 및 조합들의 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합에 대한 높이 및 폭 모두가 대안적인 애스펙트 비의 정수 분수들로 결정되는, 상기 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들을 결정하고;
    대안적인 애스펙트 비들에 대한 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합으로부터 공통의 높이 및 폭 조합들의 세트를 선택하고;
    공통의 높이 및 폭 조합들의 세트의 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합은 동일한 특정 폭을 갖고;
    공통의 높이 및 폭 조합들의 세트는, 대안적인 애스펙트 비에 대한 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들이 주어진 폭의 높이 및 폭 조합을 갖는 대안적인 애스펙트 비들의 수에 기초하여 선택되어,
    프로세서가 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트에 대한 해상도들의 세트를 선택하도록하는, 소스 인코더.
  7. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 인코더 애플리케이션은 프로세서가 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들의 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합의 높이 및 폭이, 정수 분수의 분자와 분모가 주어진 임계값보다 작은지 결정하여, 주 해상도의 각각의 높이 및 폭의 정수 분수인지 결정하는, 소스 인코더.
  8. 주 비디오 스트림을 각각이 별도의 콘테이너 파일들에 저장되는 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트로 인코딩하는 콘텐츠 분배 시스템의 하나 이상의 인코딩 서버들의 세트에 의해 수행되는 방법으로서, 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트는 각각이 프레임 레이트 및 비트레이트를 갖는 복수의 대안적인 비디오 스트림들과 오디오 스트림을 갖는, 상기 주 비디오 스트림을 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트로 인코딩하는 방법에 있어서,
    주 비디오 스트림의 주어진 애스팩트 비에 기초해 주 해상도를 선택하는 단계와;
    주 해상도 및 주어진 애스팩트 비에 기초해 상기 주어진 애스팩트 비에 대한 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합을 결정하는 단계로서, 상기 복수의 조합 각각은,
    높이 및 폭 조합의 제 1 의 높이 또는 폭에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하고,
    제 1 값에 대해 상기 주 스트림의 애스팩트 비를 적용하고,
    높이 및 폭 조합의 제 2 의 높이 및 폭에 대한 제 2 값을 결정하기 위해 애스팩트 비의 애플리케이션 결과를 근사 정수로 반올림하고,
    각각의 조합의 높이 및 폭은 정수의 화소들이고 주 해상도의 대응하는 폭 및 높이보다 작으며 선택된 조합의 폭 및 높이는 주 애스펙트 비와 실질적으로 동일한 애스펙트 비를 갖는,
    상기 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합을 결정하는 단계와;
    상기 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합의 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합의 높이 및 폭이 주 해상도의 높이 및 폭의 각각의 정수 분수인지 결정하는 단계와;
    높이 및 폭이 모두 주 해상도의 높이 및 폭의 정수 분수로 결정되는 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들로부터 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트에 대한 해상도의 세트를 선택하는 단계와;
    주 비디오 스트림으로부터 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트를 인코딩하는 단계로서, 대안적인 비디오 스트림들 각각이 해상도의 세트로부터의 상이한 해상도로 및 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트에서 나머지 비디오 스트림들의 상이한 비트레이트로 인코딩되는, 상기 인코딩하는 단계를 포함하는, 주 비디오 스트림을 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트로 인코딩하는 방법.
  9. 제 8 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 값은 화소들의 폭이고, 인코더 애플리케이션은 폭에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하기 위해 이전의 폭으로부터 단일 화소를 감산하여, 프로세서가 폭에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하도록 하는, 주 비디오 스트림을 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트로 인코딩하는 방법.
  10. 제 8 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 값은 화소들의 높이이고, 인코더 애플리케이션은 높이에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하기 위해 이전의 높이로부터 단일 화소를 감산하여, 프로세서가 높이에 대한 제 1 값을 선택하도록 하는, 주 비디오 스트림을 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트로 인코딩하는 방법.
  11. 제 8 항에 있어서,

    상기 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트에 대한 해상도의 세트를 선택하는 단계는,
    복수의 대안적인 애스펙트 비들 각각에 대한 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들을 결정하는 단계로서, 대응하는 높이 및 폭 조합의 복수의 대안적인 애스펙트 비들 각각에 대해 복수의 높이 및 조합들의 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합에 대한 높이 및 폭 모두가 대안적인 애스펙트 비의 정수 분수들로 결정되는, 상기 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들을 결정하는 단계와;
    대안적인 애스펙트 비들에 대한 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합으로부터 공통의 높이 및 폭 조합들의 세트를 선택하는 단계로서;
    공통의 높이 및 폭 조합들의 세트의 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합은 동일한 특정 폭을 갖고;
    공통의 높이 및 폭 조합들의 세트는, 대안적인 애스펙트 비에 대한 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합들이 주어진 폭의 높이 및 폭 조합을 갖는 대안적인 애스펙트 비들의 수에 기초하여 선택되는, 상기 선택하는 단계를 포함하는, 주 비디오 스트림을 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트로 인코딩하는 방법.
  14. 제 8 항에 있어서,
    상기 복수의 높이 및 폭 조합의 각각의 높이 및 폭 조합의 높이 및 폭이 주 해상도의 높이 및 폭의 각각의 정수 분수인지 결정하는 단계는, 정수 분수의 분자와 분모가 주어진 임계값보다 작은지 결정하는 단계를 포함하는, 주 비디오 스트림을 대안적인 비디오 스트림들의 세트로 인코딩하는 방법.
