ここに、σは管の導電率、rO 、及びrI はそれぞれ管の外側の半径、及び孔の半径である。管の壁に通る電流がIであると、前に述べたように電流と抵抗との積から、電位差は次のように計算される。

本発明の各実施例では、第1の電気的接触の短絡は主要な電流供給路を確立する接触によって防止される。即ち、第2の接触は可能であるが、第1の電気的接触における低レベルの電気抵抗ではないようにする。電気抵抗のこの相違は孔、及び孔の残り部分の第1の接触領域を画成する材料を選択することによって、更に孔の領域より僅かに直径が大きい孔の残部によって、或る瞬間に、増大する。

しかし、アルミニウムの固有電気抵抗は非常に低いから、抵抗加熱の項bLI2 は実際上、省略できる程小さい。従って、本発明によるコンタクトチップを使用して、アルミニウムを溶接する際の利益は無いように見える。実験的にはこれは事実と違うことがわかった。改善された送り能力と、対応するアークの安定性との組合せは一定のワイヤ送り速度において、電流を減少させることになる。品質等級4043、直径1.2 mmのアルミニウム合金消耗ワイヤの場合、8m/分のワイヤ融解速度を達成するために必要な代表的な電流は伝統的な銅製チップの場合、180Aである。図9に示す形式のチップを使用すれば、この電流は約10A減少する。
Claims (11)
- 消耗電極を使用するアーク溶接に適するコンタクトチップにおいて、
入口端および出口端を有する孔を画成する本体を備え、この孔により前記消耗電極が前記本体を通過できるようにし、
前記本体には、前記孔の入口端に近接する部分に周方向の段を設け、前記入口端と前記段との間で前記孔の直径が減少し、この直径が減少した孔の部分で前記消耗電極が電気的接触でき、したがって、前記孔の直径減少部分で前記消耗電極が孔の表面に食い込むことにより、前記段を含む前記孔の第1接触領域で第1の電気的接触を生じて、溶接用電源からの電流を前記本体から前記消耗電極に移送することができるよう構成し、
前記孔の前記第1接触領域から前記出口端にいたる長さ部分を、前記第1接触領域における孔を画定する材料とは異なる材料であって、前記第1接触領域における孔を画定する材料よりも低いレベルの導電率を有する材料によって画定することによって、前記第1接触領域内における前記第1の電気的接触を短絡させる前記本体と前記消耗電極との間における第2の接触がないよう、前記本体を構成し、また
前記段は、前記孔の入口端からこの段に至る孔部分を画定する第1材料と、この段からある距離にわたり前記第1接触領域の孔を画する第2材料との間で形成し、第1材料を前記第2材料よりも硬い材料で形成した
ことを特徴とするコンタクトチップ。 - 前記第1接触領域は前記孔の範囲の10%より少ない領域である請求項1によるコンタクトチップ。
- 前記第1接触領域は前記孔の範囲の5%より少ない領域である請求項2によるコンタクトチップ。
- 前記第1接触領域はその長さが約5mmを越えない請求項1〜3のいずれか1項によるコンタクトチップ。
- 前記第1接触領域はその長さが約3mmより短い請求項4によるコンタクトチップ。
- 前記本体は前記孔の前記入口端に達するテーパ案内部を画成している請求項1によるコンタクトチップ。
- 前記段の両側で孔を画定する前記第1および第2の材料のうち少なくとも一方は、孔部分を画定する挿入部によって構成した請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載のコンタクトチップ。
- 前記第1接触領域における前記孔を画定する材料とは異なる材料を、電気的絶縁材料とした請求項1〜7のうちいずれか一項に記載のコンタクトチップ。
- 前記第1材料を銅合金とし、前記第2材料をグラファイトとした請求項1〜8のうちいずれか一項に記載のコンタクトチップ。
- 前記第1材料を焼結タングステンとし、前記第2材料を銅合金とした請求項1〜8のうちいずれか一項に記載のコンタクトチップ。
- 前記第1材料をスチールとし、前記第2材料を銅合金とした請求項1〜8のうちいずれか一項に記載のコンタクトチップ。
