LA PRESENTE INVENCION TRATA DE PROCEDIMIENTOS PARA LA CRIOCONSERVACION DE CELULAS VEGETALES Y DE PROCEDIMIENTOS PARA RECUPERAR CELULAS VEGETALES VIABLES PARA UNA CRIOCONSERVACION A CORTO O LARGO PLAZO. LAS CELULAS VEGETALES QUE SE VAN A CRIOCONSERVAR PUEDEN SER CULTIVADAS EN UN CULTIVO Y PRETRATADAS CON UNA SOLUCION QUE CONTIENE UN AGENTE CRIOPROTECTOR, Y OPCIONALMENTE UN ESTABILIZANTE. LOS ESTABILIZANTES SON PREFERIBLEMENTE ESTABILIZANTES DE MEMBRANA, TALES COMO LOS INHIBIDORES DEL ETILENO, LOS CAPTADORES DE RADICALES DE OXIGENO, Y CATIONES DIVALENTES. LAS CELULAS TAMBIEN PUEDEN ESTABILIZARSE SOMETIENDO AL CULTIVO A UN CHOQUE DE CALOR. LAS CELULAS VITRIFICADAS RETIENEN MENOS DE UN 20 % DE CONTENIDO EN AGUA Y PUEDEN CONGELARSE A TEMPERATURAS DE CRIOCONSERVACION DURANTE LARGOS PERIODOS DE TIEMPO SIN QUE SE ALTEREN DE FORMA SIGNIFICATIVA EL CARACTER GENOTIPICO O FENOTIPICO DE LAS CELULAS. LAS CELULAS VEGETALES TAMBIEN PUEDEN CRIOCONSERVARSE MEDIANTE LA LIOFILIZACION DE LAS CELULAS ANTES DE SU EXPOSICION A LA SOLUCION DE VITRIFICACION. LA COMBINACION DE LIOFILIZACION Y VITRIFICACION ELIMINA APROXIMADAMENTE DESDE UN 80 % A UN 95 % DEL AGUA DE LAS CELULAS VEGETALES. LAS CELULAS PUEDEN SER CRIOCONSERVADAS CON EXITO DURANTE LARGOS PERIODOS DE TIEMPO Y RECUPERADAS DE FORMA VIABLE. LA INVENCION TAMBIEN TRATA DE PROCEDIMIENTOS PARA LA RECUPERACION DE CELULAS VEGETALES VIABLES PROCEDENTES DE LA CRIOCONSERVACION.
