Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for moistening the printing plate on rotary printing presses according to the preamble of claim 1.
- dampening systems are known per se and serve to wet the printing plate with a uniformly thin dampening solution layer before the ink is applied.
- the aim here is to apply the dampening solution layer as thinly as possible, so as not to change the substrate and still obtain a perfect print image.
- the scope available for this is very small, so that high demands are placed on modern dampening systems.
- the object of the invention is to design a device of the type mentioned in the introduction in such a way that even with very small amounts of dampening solution, sensitive metering is achieved in certain areas of the printing plate, without any great technical effort.
- the object is achieved according to the characterizing features of claim 1.
- the advantage of this solution is that by contacting the bristles of the brush roller, very small amounts of dampening solution are removed from the metering roller and evaporate as the brush roller rotates further. This effect is achieved by the multiplication of the surface of the removed dampening solution film and the higher drying speed achieved thereby. With a dampening solution film of about 5-10 micrometers thick on the metering roller, the one removed by the brush roller is sufficient Amount of dampening solution normally to reduce the excess supply of dampening solution in the respective zone.
- FIG. 1 An embodiment of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing.
- a printing plate is clamped on the plate cylinder 1 and is essentially moistened by application rollers 2, 3. Both application rollers are in contact via an intermediate roller 4.
- the three rollers 2-4 rotate at the peripheral speed of the plate cylinder.
- the metering roller 5 has a hard, water-friendly surface and rolls off with the wet box roller 6, which has an elastic surface.
- the dampening box roller 6 rotates partially in the dampening solution 7, which is provided in a dampening solution box 8.
- the dampening solution entrained by the dampening roller 6 is metered between the latter and the metering roller 5 by the setting pressure to such an extent that only a dampening agent film of about 5-10 micrometers is present on the metering roller 5.
- the metering roller 5 is assigned a brush roller 9 which e.g. rolls with the peripheral speed of the metering roller 5.
- the bristles 10 absorb small amounts of dampening solution from the metering roller 5 and allow them to evaporate briefly due to their enlarged surface.
- the brush roller 9 can only take up a partial length of the metering roller 5 and is mounted on levers 11 which are fastened on a crossbar 12.
- the levers 11 are arranged on a clamping body 18 and fastened both pivotably and laterally.
- adjustable wipers 13 can be provided in certain areas, which cause the dampening solution to be sprayed off.
- the sprayed dampening solution is supplied to the dampening solution supply 7 by means of orifices 14, 15, which are fastened to a clamping body 18 which can be displaced with the levers 11, via the dampening box roller 6.
- suction nozzles 16 can be used, which suck off the excess dampening solution or cause the evaporation to evaporate.
- the suction nozzles 16 are connected via a hose line 17 to a suction unit, not shown. The suction effect can be set differently for the individual suction nozzles.

Abstract
