Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for moistening the printing plate on rotary printing presses according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such so-called dampening systems are known per se and serve to wet the printing plate with a uniformly thin dampening solution layer before the ink is applied. The aim here is to apply the dampening solution layer as thinly as possible, so as not to change the substrate and still obtain a perfect print image. The scope available for this is very small, so that high demands are placed on modern dampening systems.
Although it is possible with modern dampening systems to apply an even and very thin dampening solution film over the length of the plate cylinder, there is an excess supply of dampening solution in certain printing inks. This is e.g. the case when, due to the printed image, less dampening solution is required in one area than over the other plate length. Since this is visible to the person skilled in the art in the printed image, there is the problem of reducing the amount of dampening solution supplied in the area somewhat.
The object of the invention is to design a device of the type mentioned in the introduction in such a way that even with very small amounts of dampening solution, sensitive metering is achieved in certain areas of the printing plate, without any great technical effort.
The object is achieved according to the characterizing features of claim 1. The advantage of this solution is that by contacting the bristles of the brush roller, very small amounts of dampening solution are removed from the metering roller and evaporate as the brush roller rotates further. This effect is achieved by the multiplication of the surface of the removed dampening solution film and the higher drying speed achieved thereby. With a dampening solution film of about 5-10 micrometers thick on the metering roller, the one removed by the brush roller is sufficient Amount of dampening solution normally to reduce the excess supply of dampening solution in the respective zone.
Advantageous refinements of the invention are achieved with the subclaims, wherein a targeted reduction of the dampening solution film is possible through the use of short brush rollers. However, if the brush roller is designed with a length that corresponds to the metering roller and is placed against it, the dampening solution supply must be increased slightly to compensate for the natural evaporation of the dampening solution. Here, the amount of dampening solution can also be reduced in certain areas by arranging the wipers accordingly. When using suction nozzles according to claim 4, the more intensive drying of the bristles generated by the nozzles is sufficient for the reduction of the dampening solution.
An embodiment of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing.
In a known manner, a printing plate is clamped on the plate cylinder 1 and is essentially moistened by
The
If the length of the brush roller 9 corresponds to the length of the
