Abstract

MÉTODOS PARA CARBONIZAR E ATIVAR MATERIAL CARBONÁCEO, E PARA PREPARAR CARBONO ATIVADO, FORNO ROTATIVO, PROCESSOS PARA PREPARAR UM PRODUTO DE CARBONO ATIVADO, PARA PREPARAR UM PRODUTO PARTICULADO CARBONIZADO, E PARA PRODUZIR GLÓBULOS SÓLIDOS DISCRETOS DE MATERIAL POLIMÉRICO, E, APARELHO PARA FORMAR GLÓBULOS SÓLIDOS DISCRETOS DE MATERIAL POLIMÉRICO. É fornecido um método para carbonizar e ativar material carbonáceo, compreendendo alimentar o material em um forno rotativo externamente ignizado mantido em temperaturas de carbonização e ativação, o forno tendo uma inclinação em declive para avançar o material à medida que ele gira, o forno tendo uma atmosfera substancialmente livre de oxigênio formada por uma contra-corrente de vapor ou dióxido de carbono, e barragens anulares estando posicionadas em intervalos ao longo do forno para controlar o avanço do material. Pode ser adicionalmente fornecido um forno rotativo externamente ignizado para carbonizar e ativar material carbonáceo tendo um corpo rotativo oco que tem uma inclinação em declive na direção de sua extremidade de descarga, e que está munido em intervalos ao longo de seu comprimento com barragens anulares para controlar o avanço do material carbonáceo. Em modalidades, também é fornecido um processo para produzir glóbulos sólidos discretos de material polimérico e.g. glóbulos de resina fenólica tendo uma estrutura mesoporosa, que pode ser útil como matéria-prima para o processo de carbonização/ativação acima mencionado ou que pode ter outra utilidade e.g. como resinas trocadoras de íons. O processo pode produzir glóbulos de resina em uma escala industrial sem agregados de resina se desenvolvendo em grande velocidade e interrompendo a produção. O processo compreende as etapas de: (a) combinar uma corrente de um precursor líquido polimerizável e.g. um novolac ou uma hexamina como agente reticulante dissolvido em um primeiro líquido orgânico polar e.g. etileno-glicol com uma corrente de meio de suspensão líquido que é um segundo líquido não-polar com o qual o precursor líquido é substancial ou completamente imiscível e.g. óleo de transformador contendo um óleo secante; (b) misturar a corrente combinada para dispersar o precursor líquido polimerizável como gotículas no meio de suspensão e.g. usando um misturador estático em-linha; (c) permitir que as gotículas se polimerizem em um fluxo laminar do meio de suspensão de modo que formem glóbulos sólidos discretos que não podem ser aglomerar; e (d) recuperar os glóbulos do meio de suspensão. Também é fornecido um aparelho para formar glóbulos sólidos discretos de material polimérico, dito aparelho compreendendo: uma primeira linha para transportar uma corrente de um precursor líquido polimerizável; uma segunda linha para transportar uma corrente de um meio de dispersão com o qual o precursor líquido polimerizável é substancial ou completamente imiscível; um misturador em-linha para receber um fluxo combinado das primeira e segunda linhas e para dispersar o precursor líquido polimerizável como gotículas no meio de dispersão; uma coluna de polimerização vertical configurada para receber o meio de dispersão com as gotículas dispersadas no mesmo e para permitir que o precursor líquido polimerizável polimerize enquanto desce pela coluna em um fluxo descendente do meio de polimerização; e um vaso na base da coluna para receber o fluxo descendente de meio de dispersão e coletar glóbulos sólidos polimerizados.
