Abstract

"NOVOLACS FENóLICAS COM PROPRIEDADES óTICAS MELHORADAS" A especificação descreve um processo para a preparação de um produto polifenólico fluorescente com um alto grau de absorvência de UV, sua subseq³ente epoxidação, assim como os seus produtos polifenólicos e derivados epoxidados e composições suas. Os produtos polifenólicos são preparados por aquecimento de glioxal a uma temperatura de aproximadamente 80°C a aproximadamente 100°C com um excesso molar de um fenol na presença de um catalisador ácido que é eliminado da mistura de reação a uma temperatura de aproximadamente 170°C. A razão molar total do glioxal para fenol introduzido na mistura de reação é de aproximadamente 0,15 a 0,22 moles de glioxal para cada mol de fenol. O glioxal é acrescentado ao fenol continuamente ou em etapas, de modo a manter o nível das unidades de aldeído na mistura de reação abaixo de aproximadamente 70% das unidades de aldeído na quantidade total do glioxal a ser introduzida para a preparação do polifenol. A água é destilada da mistura de reação em etapas ou continuamente. O catalisador é removido da mistura de reação por destilação subseq³ente da mistura de reação, geralmente a temperaturas mais altas.
