Abstract

Un proceso para preparar N-(fosfometil)glicina (es decir glifosato) o una sal de la misma, proceso que comprende poner en contacto ácido N-(fosfonometil)iminodiacético o una sal del mismo con un catalizador de oxidacion en presencia de oxí geno,donde el catalizador: a) comprende unsoporte de carbon que tiene un metal noble en una superficie del soporte de carbon; y produce no más que aproximadamente 1,2 mmol de monoxido de carbonopor gramo de catalizador cuando una mezcla seca de estese caliente en una atmosfera de helio a incrementos de temperatura de 20 a 900°C, a una velocidad de aproximadamente 10°C por minuto y después a aproximadamente 900°C durante aproximadamente 30 minutos; y/o b) comprende un soporte de carb on quetiene unmetal noble, carbono y oxígeno en una superficie del soporte de carbon, siendo la proporcion de átomos de carbono respecto de los átomos de oxígeno de lasuperficie de por lo menos aproximadamente 20:1, segun lo medido medianteespectroscopía fotoelectronica de rayox X; y/o c) comprende un soporte decarbon que comprende: (a) un metal en una superficie del soporte de carbon; y (b) una capa de superficie que tiene un espesor de aproximadamente 50Amstrong, segun lo medidohac ia adentro desde la superficie y que comprende carbono y oxígeno, siendo la proporcion de átomos de carbono respecto de losátomos de oxígeno de la capa superficial de por lo menos aproximadamente 20:1, segun lo medido medianteespectroscopía fot oelectronica de rayos X; y/o d) esformado mediante un proceso que comprende depositar un metal noble en una superficie de un soporte de carbon y después calentar la superficie a una temperatura de por lo menos aproximadamente400°C; y/o e) es formado mediante un proceso que comprende: (a) depositar un metal noble en una superficie de un
