Definitions
- the present invention relates to a chuck for supporting a work (work) during machining with a lathe or the like, and in particular to a technique capable of maintaining high centering accuracy even if the top jaw is removed after centering.
- a chuck is used as an apparatus for supporting such a work.
- a plurality of radially sliding jaws are radially disposed on the front of the chuck to support the workpiece.
- the jaw comprises a master jaw provided on the body of the chuck and sliding radially, and a top jaw detachably mounted on the master jaw with a bolt or the like to support a work.
- Serrations continuous irregularities with a sawtooth cross section
- Serrations are formed to extend in the circumferential direction on the respective abutment surfaces where the master jaw and the top jaw are in close contact with each other. Then, when the top jaws are attached to the master jaws, the serrations are engaged with each other to be firmly fixed in a state in which the top jaws are positioned with high precision in the radial direction with respect to the master jaws. It is supposed to be.
- the top jaw may be detached after centering. Once the top jaw is removed from the master jaw, there has been a problem that the top jaw is misaligned circumferentially along the serration with respect to the master jaw, although this is slight. If such misalignment (a state in which the center of the work does not coincide with the rotation axis of machining) occurs, it is necessary again to perform a cumbersome and highly-intensive centering operation.
- Patent Document 1 is one of the prior art for the purpose of solving such problems.

- Each bolt insertion hole 52 is located on the front side and accommodates the head of the bolt 40.
- a housing portion 52b is formed in the front and back of the top jaw 50 so as to extend therethrough in the direction of the jaw central axis
- the top jaw 50 has an abutment surface 53 on the back side, which is a flat surface on which the serrations 53a are formed.
- the serrations 53a are formed in parallel with the width direction (the direction of the short side). It is orthogonal to the jaw central axis Jz and a support central axis Jc (usually coincident with the slide axis Js) extending radially and passing through the center of the workpiece support 51.
- a band-like groove (second key groove 54) having a rectangular cross section is formed penetrating both ends of the top jaw 50.
- the width of the second key groove 54 is designed to be the same as the width of the first key groove 24.
- the abutting surface 53 is divided into two by the second key groove 54. Then, on both sides of the second key groove portion 54, band-like regions of a pair of serrations 53a are formed.
- the serrations 53a are formed in accordance with the serrations 22a of the contact surface 22, and are designed to be engaged with each other and in close contact with each other.
- the second key groove portion 54 is formed to be fitted with the tip end portion of the key portion 30 b.
- the second key groove portion 54 has a pair of flat and parallel second inscribed surfaces 54 a, 54 a facing each other. That is, the top jaw 50 is positioned with respect to the T-nut 30 by fitting the key portion 30 b with the second key groove portion 54.
- the key 30b to the second key groove 54 is located between the end of the key 30b and the second key groove 54, or more specifically, between each second inner surface 54a and each side of the key 30b. There are tiny “gaps" that allow for the insertion of the prongs of the.
- the shaft storage 52b is open.
- the fastening hole 31 and the bolt insertion hole 52 overlap with each other by fitting and aligning the projecting end portion of the key portion 30b to the second key groove portion 54. Therefore, the top jaw 50 and the T-nut 30 are loosely fastened with two bolts 40 using the fastening holes 31 and the bolt insertion holes 52. In such a state, the T-nut 30 is inserted into the support groove 23 from the outer peripheral side, and the serrations 53a and 22a are engaged to align them at a predetermined position. Then, two bolts 40 are fastened to each fastening hole 31.
- the top jaw 50 is fixed to the master jaw 20, and the serration 53a of the abutting surface 53 engages with the serration 22a of the abutted surface 22 so as to be in close contact. Since the serrations 22a extend in the circumferential direction, the movement of the top jaw 50 is restricted by the serrations 22a and 53a when the abutment surface 53 is in close contact with the abutted surface 22, and the top jaw 50 is relative to the master jaw 20. There is no risk of radial displacement.
- the top jaw 50 can be firmly fixed to the master jaw 20 by fastening with the bolt 40. Therefore, once the top jaws 50 are fixed to the master jaws 20, the top jaws 50 can be supported with high precision relative to the master jaws 20 not only in the radial direction but also in the circumferential direction. Therefore, accurate centering allows machining of a workpiece with high accuracy.
- the top jaw 50 may be detached after centering due to a change in the work to be processed. Once the top jaws 50 are removed from the master jaws 20, the top jaws 50, although slightly, will be circumferentially misaligned along the serrations 22a.
- the positional deviation is a fine positional deviation of several to several tens of ⁇ m level, so that visual positioning is also difficult. Therefore, once positional deviation occurs, in order to perform high-precision processing, it is necessary again to perform an alignment operation that requires troublesome and high-level skills.
- the centering operation referred to here is generally performed in the on-press molding.
- the structure of the jaw 2 is devised so that the centering accuracy can be maintained with high accuracy even if the top jaw 50 is removed after centering.
- the key portion 30b is inclined or twisted with respect to both the first key groove portion 24 and the second key groove portion 54 by the contact surface 53 and the contact surface 22 being in close contact with each other.
- a positioning mechanism (which acts to rotate in opposite directions) is provided on each jaw 2.
- FIG. 5 schematically shows the process of attaching the top jaw 50 to the master jaw 20.
- the upper left figure (a) is a view of the master jaw 20 with the T-nut 30 mounted, viewed from the front side
- the upper right figure (b) is a front side of the top jaw 50. It is the figure seen from.
- the lower central view is a front view of the master jaw 20 with the top jaw 50 attached thereto.
- the left figure shows the state of the master jaw 20 (first key groove portion 24) and the T-nut 30 (key portion 30b) at that time.
- the right figure shows the state of the top jaw 50 (second key groove 54) and the T-nut 30 (key 30b) at that time.
- the second key groove 54 of the top jaw 50 is formed to extend orthogonal to the serration 53a.
- the second key groove portion 54 of the present embodiment is formed to extend in a direction inclined with respect to the serration 53 a (an example of the positioning mechanism).
- the inclination is actually small (for example, 0.01 ° to 0.5 °) with respect to the support central axis Jc (slide axis Js) (here, it is exaggerated for ease of understanding).
- the top jaw 50 When the top jaw 50 is fixed to the master jaw 20, the contact surface 53 and the contact surface 22 are in close contact. Then, the serrations 22a and 53a are engaged with each other. Then, the top jaws 50 become parallel to the master jaws 20, and the centers in the width direction coincide (the slide axis Js and the support center axis Jc coincide). At this time, since the second key groove portion 54 is inclined with respect to the key portion 30b, two places T1 and T2 at one diagonal portion of the key portion 30b contact the second inscribed surface 54a. And the key part 30b (T nut 30) rotates by the reaction, and two places M1 and M2 of the other diagonal part of the key part 30b approach the 1st inscribed surface 24a.
- the key portion 30b pivots relative to both the first key groove portion 24 and the second key groove portion 54, and is relatively inclined.
- a substantial gap (a gap which can be shifted in the circumferential direction) between both the first key groove portion 24 and the second key groove portion 54 and the key portion 30 b is reduced.
- the amount of positional deviation in the circumferential direction is reduced, and the positioning accuracy is improved.
- the key portion 30 b When the top jaw 50 is a soft jaw, the key portion 30 b may be rotated to a large extent so that the key portion 30 b bites into the second key groove portion 54. Then, two places of the second inscribed surface 54a are plastically deformed to form a biting mark. At the time of reattachment of the top jaw 50, these key marks can guide the key portion 30b to an appropriate position. Therefore, the positioning accuracy at the time of reattachment of the top jaw 50 can be further improved.
- the top jaw 50 which is a consumable item may be improved. Therefore, the master jaw 20 and the T nut 30 which are not consumables The goods can be used as they are. Therefore, it is advantageous in terms of cost.
- the second key groove 54 may be conventional, and the first key groove 24 may be inclined with respect to the serration 22 a.
- the top jaw 50 has an advantage that conventional products can be used.
- Both the first key groove 24 and the second key groove 54 may be inclined with respect to the serrations 22 a and 53 a.
- the serrations 53a of the contact surface 53 and the serrations 22a of the contact surface 22 are parallel to each other, the first key groove 24 and the second key groove 54 may be set to be inclined in opposite directions.
- FIG. 7 shows another embodiment of the positioning mechanism.
- the upper left view of FIG. 7 is a view of the side of the master jaw 20 as viewed from the front side.
- the upper right figure is a view of the top jaw 50 as viewed from the front side.
- the lower view is a front view of the master jaw 20 with the top jaw 50 attached thereto.
- the T-nut 30 is provided with a positioning mechanism (improved T-nut 30A). That is, as shown in FIG. 6, in the key portion 30b of the improved T-nut 30A, a first key portion 61 fitted in the first key groove portion 24 and a second key portion 62 fitted in the second key groove portion 54. And are formed.
- the first key portion 61 and the second key portion 62 extend in directions in which the first key portion 61 and the second key portion 62 are inclined to each other (in different directions).
