DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,641, dated August 23, 1887.
Application filed November 10, 1883. Serial NO. 111,479. Term of patent H years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDGAR W. ANTHONY, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of l\fassachusetts,a citizen of the United States, have invented and produced a certain new and useful Design for Heating-Stoves, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying photographs, in which No. isa photograph of the stove as a whole. No. 2 ma photograph of the top thereof. No. 3 1s a photograph of the upper base-plate.
The-features of the design are well illustrated by the photographs.
(lommencing at the base, the stoveleg has as its features the double scroll a, with the upward-extending spreading portions 0. and the rosettes a. Each side of the base portion has an ornamental panel, b, which is well represented in the photograph, and also the corners c, the features of which are the spreading base, the ornamental section 0, the horizontal beads with vertical lines upon the portion of the corner between the beads, represented either by outwardly-extending ribs or by recesses.
The design for the ash-pitdoor is well illustrated in the photograph, and consists in a series of sunken panels. These panels are formed by raised portions or ribs which extend across the door horizontally and vertically, intersecting each other to form the panels.
The design for the upper surface of the upper base-plate is well shown in the photograph No. 3, and the scroll-work in the corners, aside from the proportion in plan and elevation of the plate, comprises the essential features. The foot-rail is also well illustrated by the photograph. It has a rounded upper surface and a scalloped lower edge.
The frame-work about the upper door is another feature of the design, and is well illustrated by the photographs. This door is also well shown in the photograph, and its division into squares and the introduction of the corner and central scroll are well represented byit. The portions not represented by scrollwork are to be closed by sheets of mica or other transparent material. Below the doorframe is an ornamental piece, which has the design and general configuration shown in the photograph.
The portion of the design (I immediately be.
low the upper or top plate is well represented by the photograph. The top plate has the proportion and general configuration represented in photograph No. 2, and is ornamented as therein shown.
The shape and design of the cover are also represented in photographs Nos. 1 and 2, asis also that of the ornamental panel 6, which is supported by the cover.
The general proportion which each ornamental plate and part of the stove bears to all the others is well represented in photograph N o. 1, and the general character of the design as constituted by the use of square and cireir lar figures. The line-work is also well shown in said photograph.
Having thus fully described my design, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States 1. In a design for a stove, the front door comprising horizontal and vertical bars, spaces for mica or transparent lights, and a central rosette, and a rosette at each corner of the the door, as illustrated and described.
