DESIGN` G. E VILBUR.
HEATING STOVE.
No. 20,785. Patented May 26,1891.
MJ HLUMMSUIV,
UNTTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE E. 'ILBUR, OF TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIHNOR 'lO 'illE lVElR STOVE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,785, dated May 26, 1891.
Application tiled March 9, 1891. Serial No. 384,391. Tenn of patent '7 yearsy To (LZZ whom t muy concern.-
lle it known that I, GEORGE E. Winnen, of Taunton, in the county of Bristol and Stato of Massachusetts, a citizen of the United States, have invented a new and original Del sign for Heating-Stoves, olf which the follow ing is a full, clear, and exact description, reierence being had to the aecompanying drawlng, forming a part ot this specification, in explaining its nature.
The design relates to a heating-stove, and especially to the design for the front, the end, the top, and the foot rail.
The design for the front may be said to be in two parts-namely, that which relates to the door and that which surrounds the door. The door is a fanciful sketch representing, it may be said, one of the seasons, and consists of three merry urchins dancing along with a dog at one side and a border of vine and clusters of grapes. Above this door-plate is a name-plate having a straight lower edge, a curved upper edge, and a surface made up of rounded projections with three conventional owers thereon.
Upon each side of the door-plate and nameplate is a design consisting of a conventional vine and leaves extending from the lower edge upward in a serpentine course, with radiating leaves in the form of scrolls from each curved section, the upper end of the design having a leaf, which extends horizontally. The end plate comprises an oval center somewhat rounded and in the form of a medallion with a border of small knobs. Frein this radiate the wavy ribs, which extend to a border made up of lines the sides and bottom of which are straight and the top of which is curved. Lapping upon each ot' the upper corners is a figure in the nature of a rosette, and it Consists of a central point and peculiarly-curved bars extending from said point t0 till the corners of the plate. lielow the horizontal border-lines is a con ventional vineand-leaf figure, which is mounted over a base of ribs extendingupward and narrowing from their upper edges downward.
'lhe design t'or the top plate comprises a circular ring or border at the center of the plate, leaves extendingr to each corner of the plato-four in numlieu-h serolhworli ot nn ornamental character between lhe leaves, and ribs upon the end sections extending from the scroll-work to the edge of the plate.
'lhe design for the footrail comprises a straight section `smooth and curved and two curved arms, which extend inward and up ward and at their ends are ornamented with rosettes. rl`he corners are ornamented with Scroll-work, and there is a leaf-and-liue work design between the scrolls and the rosettes. The legs have a conventional leaf design, the broad part of which is uppermost and is provided with two wings extending toward each corner of the leg, and the toot of the leg has upon each side a scroll.
Ilaving thus fully described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United Statesl. In the design for a heating-stove as herein shown and described, the stove door or plate having the figures of the urchins, dog, and border ot fruit and vine, as shown and specified.
2. In the design for a heating-stove as herein shown and described, the stove-plate having the conventional figure of a vine and leaves arranged in a serpentine form and having the curved offshoots and heavy leaf effects, as shown and specified.
3. In the design for a heating-stove as herein shown and described, a plate having a rounded or curved upper edge, a straight lower edge, and a surface composed of conventional flowers and small knobs or projections, as shown and specified.
4. In the design for a heating-stove as herein shown and described, the stove plate or door having an oval center-piece, wavy radiating ribs or bars increasing in width from the center, a line-work bordel', upper corner rosettes, conventional vine-anddeai work below the lower line-work, as shown and spceilied.
5. In the design [or a heating-stove as herein shown and described, the plate or top having the central circular border 0t` convcntional radiating leaves oi a large and heavy mold extending to the corner oi the plate, scroll-work suggestive ol' vines and leaves, but regularlv i'ormed between the large radiating leaves. and line or ril work upon each lOO 'end Section of the 1ilate,:\s shown and npveiA xo unil speeilieii.
7. In the design for u heating-stove as herein shown and described, the stove-foot, upon which is :i representation ot` u large leaf with horizontally-extendiu;,r sections and rosettes upon each face of the lower end of i5 the foot, as shown nud specified.
