DESIGN FOR A STOVE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,940, dated October 12 1886 Application filed August Ill], 1856.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HURLEY G. SMITH, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Stove, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.

Figure 1 represents a front view of a stove embodying my new and original design, and Fig. 2 is a side view of the same.

The stove is generally of square form in horizontal section.

The leading feature of my design consistsin the stove having scroll and leaf ornamentation of a rustic pattern.

The feet A of the stove are ornamented by the figure of a beaver, a, and the skirting B around its bottom by leaves and blossoms b. The lower base portion, 0, and upper portion, D, are ornamented by embossed headings c, and the top or crown Dis represented as sup ported by long embossed columns (I, of lattice like ornamentation, mounted by figures e, representing Egyptian faces. The doors E are or namented on their faces by rustic-work f. The center piece or surface between the doors is embellished by scroll-work in imitation of carving. The back section, F, of the stove is decorated by ornaments in intaglio, including a festoonlike border ornament, h, and the base portion O is embellished on its sides with a panel, 2', having a floral ornamentation, It. The top of the stove has on it a rustic partlybower-like ornament, Z, inclosing a figure, m, resembling a beaver, and the name-plate G is of a helmet-like configuration, with a scrolllike ornament, n, on its face.

I claim- 1. In a design for astove, the leg having thereon the representation of a beaver and ornamental work below the same, as herein shown and described.

3. In a design for a stove, the lower base portion, 0, upper portion, D, ornamented by embossed beadin gs c, and the intermediate embossed columns, (1, having figures e,1'ep1eseuting Egyptian figures, on their tops, as shown and described.

4. In a design for a stove, the doors E of the stove herein shown and described, the same consisting of rustic-work ornamentations f, as shown and described.

5. In a design for a stove, the panel between figures g, as herein shown and described.

6. In a design for a stove, the back section, F, embellished by border ornaments h in intaglio, of festoon-like configuration, on its borders, as shown and described.

7. In a design for a stove, the base portion 0, embellished on its sides, as herein shown and described, with a panel, '1', having a floral and scroll ornamentation, 7., as shown and described.

8. In a design for a store, the top of the same embellished by a rustic ornament, Z, inclosing a figure, m, resemblin a beaver, as herein shown and described.

9. In a design for astovc, the name-plate G, of helmet-like configuration, and embellished, as herein shown and described, with a scrolllike ornament, n, and a medallion below the same, as shown and described.
