\VILLIAM O. FEET, OF JERSEY CITY, NEV JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO THE J. L. MOTT IRON WORKS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A FIRE-PLACE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,448, dated November 21, 1882. Application filed October 17, 1882. Term of patent! years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM C. PEET, of Jersey City, in the State of New Jersey, have invented a certain new and ornamental Design for Fire-Places, of which the following is a specification Thisdcsign is made with reference to the production of an artistic appearance similar to Egyptian architecture, as shown in the accom panying engraving.
The fender has a leaflet-wreath border, a, with pedestal and sphinx b at each of the ends, fluted columns 0, with conical tops d, interwoven leaflet ornaments e,comicef, and curved ends g. The fire-place frame has side pieces composed of the ornamental fluted columns h, leaflet panels I: and l, rosettes m, and leaflet capitals n. The entablature is sloping at the ends and the panels ornamented with interwoven leaflet ornaments e, the same as on the fender. The architrave u and arching cornerpieees w are molded on the edges, and there are scroll ornaments on the surfaces, as shown. The andirons have dome-shaped heads 1', cylindrical bodies with stem and rosette orna ments 8, and a pyramidal top to the square base it, ornamented as represented in the engraving. The surfaces of the metal plates at the sides and back of the fireplace are ornamented with daisy designs, as represented.
I claim as my invention- 1. The design of the fender,consisting of the wreathed base a, sphinx 11, columns c, cornice f, and leaflet ornaments e,snbstantially as represented.
2. The design of the side pieces of the tireplace, consisting of the fluted columns h, leaflet panels k l, rosettes m, and leaflet capitals,substantially as represented.
3. Thedesign of the ornamental entablatnre, consisting of the interwoven leaflet ornaments, substantially as represented.
4. The design of the andirons, consisting of the dome-shaped heads 1", cylindrical bodies, stem and rosette ornaments s, and base t,snbtantially as set forth.
5. The design of the daisy ornaments on the surfaces of the fire-place sides and back, as represented.
