DESlGN FOR A FiRE-PLACE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,449, dated November 21, 1882.
Application filed October 17, 1852. Term of patent I years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM C. PEET, of Jersey City, in the State of New Jersey, have invented a certain new Design for Fire-Places,
of which the following is a specification.
This fire-place, frame, and fender are similar in ornamentation, and with the andirons compose a complete design, as shown in the annexed engraving. The entablature of the fireplace frame has a central sunflower ornament,
a, and the panels are ornamented with sunflower and cinquefoil leaflets, as at band 0. The ornamental brackets c are above the capitals fof the columns g. These have leaflet bases h, as represented. The architraye has leaflet ornaments and bars, as at k, and there are liracket-pieces l. The andirons have tripleflower ornaments m, stems n, side arches, o, and leaflet ornaments p with paneled bases, as
shown. The fender-piece has a banded-rod border, q, echinus base 1', urn ornaments s, with pineapple-heads and leaflet panels, as in the engraving. The paneled surface of the fender is ornamented to correspond to the entablature, or nearly so, as shown, the same letters of reference being used. The wings of the fender are curved backwardly at the base and made with pedestals u and winged lions o, as represented. The surfaces of the sides 0 and back of the fire-place are ornamented with diamond-shaped leaflets, as represented at w.
I claim as my invention 1. The design of the circular ornament a and flower and leaflet ornaments b c, substantially as shown.
2. The design of the fire-place frame, composed of the entablaturc, the brackets e, capitalsf, columns g, and bases h, substantially as represented.
3. Thedesign of thearchitrave k and brackets l, as represented.
4. The design of the andirons, consisting of the triple flowers m, stems n, arches 0, and
WILLIAM C. FEET.
