DESlGN FOR BASE-BURNING STOVE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,359, dated December 18, 1877; application filed November-16,1871.
[Term of Patent 34} years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, NICHOLAS S. VEDDER,
of the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, and TonrAs S. HEIsTER, of the village of Lansingburg, in said county and State, have jointly invented and produced a new and original Design for Base-Burning Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying cut, print, or engraving.
One part of this invention is the design for the vase A, consisting of the cup-shaped body a, having the compound incut ornamentation a and the hand-knobs b, with scrollleaves I) at the bottom, and the cover 0, having the quadrantcrest c, all mounted on the stem (1, and shaped and arranged together thereon as represented in the aforesaid out.
Another part is the design for the top section 0 B, consisting of the lower concave part k, having thereon the series of pointed anglearches k; the overhanging plain inclined part j, having at top the molding 7' and horizontal flat part j; the convex molding j, having on its upper portion the scallop-ornaments i, with intermediate outwardly-pointing trifid ornaments, the molding Q7, and plain an gular portion 6; the eonvex molding f, having on its upper part the series of rosette, trifid, and linear incut ornaments f, the concave molding g, and bead h and the upper concave molding h, having upon its lower portion the series of trifid ornaments h, and all the parts being shaped and arranged together as represented in the aforesaid engraving.
Another part is the design for thecylindrical upper section, consisting of the central medallion D, representing a female bust with long hair and crested helmet; the inner panelmolding E, of a general quadrilateral form, with salient and reentrant angles at the truncated corners, and having along its inner edge alternate large and small angle ornaments; the outer rectangular border 13, having the series of alternate small and large angle ornaments along its inner edges; and the intermediate compound linear and scroll-form incut ornamentation G, all shaped and arranged together as shown in the aforesaid print.
Another part is the design for the micalight doors, consisting of the side, top, and bottom bars Z, having the ornaments. i thereon, and the ornaments m at the angles, and the quarter rosettes m in the corners, all shaped and arranged together as represented in the aforesaid engraving.
Another part is the design for the baseseetion I J L, consisting of the combined rosette and scroll-form panel ornaments s and p; the round-top aperture-molding q; the twin panels formed by the ornamented moldings s; the border-moldings p 1", having along their inner edges the series of alternate large and small angle ornaments; the concave molding 42; the flat inclined band o; the convex molding 20, having along its upper part the scallop ornaments c and the outer inclined fillet w, all shaped and arranged together as shown in the aforesaid out.
Another part is the design for the rear side plate K of the lower section, consisting of the reversely-curved and straight lower edge t t t the ornamental border u, and the compound inner scroll-vine ornament u, all shaped and arranged as shown in the aforesaid out.
Another part is the design for the legs, consisting of the upper molding ac, the middle section y, having the ornament g in front, and the straight and reversely-curved sides 3 and the curved and angular lower section Z, all shaped and arranged together as shown in the aforesaid out.
What we claim as our invention is- 1. The design for the vase A, composed of the parts a a, b b, c c, and d, all shaped and arranged as set forth.
2. The design for the top section 0 B, consisting of the parts k k j j j,j j, i c, ff, 9 h, h h, all shaped and arranged together as shown and described.
3. The design for the cylindrical upper section, consisting of the parts D E F G all shaped and arranged as shown and described.
4. The design for the mica-light doors, consisting of several parts, l, l, m, and m, all
shaped and arranged together as shown and described.
