OPEN-I546 November 26, 1878 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
NICHOLAS S. VEDDER, OF TROY, AND TOBIAS S. HEISTER, OF LANSINGBURG, NEYV YORK, ASSIGNORS TO OOMSTOOK, CASTLE 8E 00., ()F QUINCY, ILL.
DESIGN FOR STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,934, dated November 26, 1878; application filed November 2, 1878. [Term of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, NICHOLAS S. VEDDER, ofTroy, county of Rensselaer and State of New York, and TOBIAS S. HEIsTER, of Lansingburg, in the county and State aforesaid, have invented and produced a certain new and useful and original Design for Stoves, of which the following is a specification The accompanying cut, showing a stove in perspective, will indicate clearly the novel points in the present design.
The baseplate a has its edges beveled, and these may be plain or ornamented or nickleplated. Under each corner of this plate is a leg, b, having ornamentation c on the face of its swelled upper part. The legs taper below this toward the foot, but at the foot are somewhat enlarged. Above 0 are suitable ornamental lines and marks.
The end plates cl and c of the stove are of semi-elliptical shape, with their lower ends resting on base a. 0n the apex of the rear plate, d, is the ornament d, and on the apex of the front plate, 6, is the ornament e. Upon the face of the said front plate are ornamental lines and figures 0 and p. About the sides and at the top, between these lines and figures 0 and the edge of the plate, is any suitable line, band, or beading.
The door f has beadin g about its edge and scroll-work on the mica-frame. The hinge of the door may have a suitable ornamentation.
The inclined draft-plate g is also properly ornamented in unison with the general design of the front of the stove. The edge of the hearth-plate g is beveled, and is otherwise lin ished to correspond with the edge of the baseplate a. Above the bevel is a bead or ornamental line.
The side plate It is somewhat curved, and has an outer square or rectangular border of fancy lines and figures, inside which is an ornamental serrated band, while within this and at the corners are ornaments in scroll. Nearly in the center, or at the center, is the ornamental boss or shield h, on which is the word Meteor. Above the plate It, in the plain space or band, is the ornamental line 1', while above said band is another band, which carries at its upper edge the top plate of the stove.
0n the flat top of the stove, and about mid way between the front plate, e, and the stovecollar, is the urn Ir, having a flaming base and an ornamental cover, the surface of the urn being covered with designs and ornamentation in harmony with those heretofore referred to.
Having thus specified and explained this design, what we wish to cover by Letters Patent is 1. The design for the front plate, 0, as shown and described.
2. The design for the front plate, 0, having ornament e, in combination with design for door, f and draft-plate g, as shown and described.
3. The design for the plate It, as shown and described.
4. The design for shield or boss, with word Meteor, in combination with plate It, as shown and described.
5. The design for the urn k, as shown and described.
6. The design for the stove as a whole, as herein described and explained.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own we do aflix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
