DESIGNTFOR BASE-BURNING STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,358, dated December 18, 1877; application filed November 16, 1877,

Be it known that we,NIoHoLAs S. VEDDER, of the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, and Tonms S. Hnrs TER, of the village of Lansingburg, in said county and State, have jointlyinvented and produced anew and original Design for Base- Burning Stoves, of which the following is a specification,referencebeing had to the accom panying out, print, or engraving.
One part of this invention is the design for the vase A, consisting of the ornamental base at, having the fluted cup I), in which rests the smooth lower portion 1) of the body, which has around its middle the ornamented band 0, above which is the conveXly-corrugated dome-portion 0', with the central capped column d, and the lateral scroll-ornamented handle 01' all shaped and arranged together substantially as represented in the aforesaid print.
Another part is the design for the upper cylindrical section, consisting of the panel-ornament 0, composed of the rectangular fillet-rim g, inclosing the four-lobed ornament g, and having the outside trifid corner-ornaments h, lateral scroll-ornaments h, and top and bottom lobed ornaments h, in combination with the outerornamental molding D and the inner ornamented panel-molding E, having the top and bottom arches j, all shaped and arranged together as shown in the aforesaid cut, with or without the incut ornamentations between the parts D and E.
Another part is the design for the upper mica-light section, the same consisting, in each door, of the lower tier of three micalight apertures, of which each opening is longer in the vertical direction than in the horizontal, the upper tier of two mica-light openings arranged over the three lower mica-light apertures, and being each longer in the horizontal direction than in the vertical, and all formed by the skeleton flame k, having inwardly-projecting concave corners l, and three-cleft angle-ornaments l, and the bottom row of six oblong apertures, of which two are arranged directly under each mica-light aperture of the lower tier, all shaped and disposed as shown in the aforesaid engraving.
Another part is the design for the upper lateral portion F of the rear draft-section, consisting of the upper and lower inclined parts a n, having the rounded rear corners M, and the intermediate series of upwardly-pointing ornamentations 0, all shaped and arranged as represented in the aforesaid print.
Another part is the design for the front door H of the lower section, consisting of the outer border-molding r, the ornaments r alternating with the rectangular parts 8, having the ornaments s at top and bottom, and all shaped and arranged on vertically-concave and horizontally-convex plate 8 as shown in the aforesaid print.
Another part is the design for the combined lower side plate I and baseplate J, consisting of the outer border-molding t, having the series of scallop-ornaments along its inner edge, theinner panel-moldin g t, of rectangular form, with outwardly-curved lateral ends and scalloped inner edging, and the central compound ornament u, all on the vertically-concave and horizontally-convex surface a, in combination with the flat surface 41, having the concave molding along its inner edge, the outer inclined band w, and the intermediate convex molding o, having thereon the series of connected oval ornaments 4), all shaped and arranged together as shown in the aforesaid out.
Another part is the design for the legs, consisting of the swelling surface :0, having the raised compound ornament y, and the incut ornaments 3 y, and the curved fillet-like side borders z, all shaped and arranged as shown in the aforesaid print.
What we claim as our invention is-- 1. The design for the vase A consisting of the parts a b b c c d d, all shaped and arranged as set forth.
2. The design for the upper section, consisting of the central panel-ornament O,composed of the parts g g h h h, and the ornamented moldings D E j, all shaped and arranged together as shown and described.
3. The design for the upper mica-light sec tion, consisting in each door of the lower tier of three mica lights arranged under the upper tier of two mica lights, and over the bottom row of six oblong apertures, all formed by the frame k, having the inwardly-projecting concave corners l and ornaments l, and all shaped, proportioned, and arranged together as shown in the accompanying cut.
4. The design for the portion F, consisting of the parts 11,121,72 and o, shaped and located together as shown and described.
5. The design for the door H, consisting of the parts 1' a" s s 8 all shaped and arranged as set forth.
6. The design for the combined lower side and base plates I J consisting of the parts t t u u 11 o v to, all shaped, ornamented, and arranged together as shown and described.
7. The design for the legs, consisting of the parts 40,1 my, and z, all shaped and arranged as set forth.
