Specification forming part of Design No. 7,048, dated December 9, 1873; application filed September 12, 1873.
v [Term of Patent 331; years] To all whom it may concern.:
Be it known that we, NICHOLAS S. VEDDEE and FRANCIS RITCI-IIE, residents of the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have jointly invented and produced anew and original ornamental Design for Cool;- in g-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompany ing engr( ving of a cooking-stove which einbodies our said new design.
One part of our invention consists of the design for the ornament A for an oven-door panel, having its lower part extended forward of its upper portion, the said ornament being composed of the swelling middle portion, having thereon a branch with a flower and leaves, and surrounded by the combination of scrollworl; ornamentations, of which the lower portion extends forward of and is broader than the upper part, with or without the forwardlyprojecting scroll-branch b, all shaped and arranged together and upon the panel substantially as represented in the aocompanyin g woodf, having transverse angular grooves or flutes and a raised bead-molding along each edge, all substantially as represented in the aforesaid engraving.
Another part consists of the design for the door or panel at the end of the fire-chamber, composed of the ornament C, arranged on the middle portion ofthe plain rectangular panel, and having a four-sided central part surrounded by scroll-work ornamentation, in combination with the border D, surrounding the panel, and consistin g of the outer convex molding c and the inner crimped iilletf, all shaped and disposed so as to appear substantially as represented in the aforesaid cut.
Another part consists of the design for the lower front door K, as distinguished by the upright oblong openings through its middle portion, and the border composed of the outermost convex molding l, the adjacent concave molding m, the inner concave-convex molding n, and the inside crimped or fluted band o, all shaped and arranged together so as to appear substantially as shown in the aforesaid en graving.
Another part consists of the design for the side plate G, as distinguished by the narrow lower portion of the plate extended forward of the main upper portion thereof, and the front end of the said lower extended portion inclined forward and upward and bordered by the compound molding having the upper part straight and the lower portion concave, in combination with the two oblong panels h h, arranged end to end, but apart from each other, and horizontally on the lower portion of the plate, and with a part of the forward panel upon that part of the plate which extends forward of the upper portion thereof, and each panel 7L having truncated corners z' 'i it' and surrounded by the bead-moldingj, and the whole shaped and disf posed as represented in the aforesaid cut.
Ve do not claim the design for the legs, nor' thc design for the border D of the door-panels 5 and we do not claim a desi gn. for a side plate of a cooking-stove distinguished solely by its lower part being extended forward of its upper portion, with the front end of the extended lower part inclined forward and upward, and the upper part straight and the lower portion concave, and bordered by a compound molding; nor do we claim a design for a side plate of a cooking-stove having oblong panels h h, with truncated corners i and bead-moldin g bordersj on the lower part thereof, when the forward panel and lower part of the plate do not extend forward ofthe upper p ortion of the plate.
NVhat we claim as our joint invention isl. The design for the curved ornament A, composed as herein speciiied, and shaped and arranged upon a panel havin g its lower portion extended forward of its upper part, substantially as represented in the aforesaid engraving.

The design for the oven-door consisting of the ornalnent A, composed as described, and arranged on the plain surface of the panel, in combination with the panel-border D, cour posed of the outer convex molding e and the around the plain rectangularI surface substantially as represented in the aforesaid en graving.
4. The design for the lower front door K, as
l distinguished by the upright oblong openings J therein, surrounded by a border composed of the convex molding l, concave molding m, concavo-convex molding n, and crimped fillet 07 all shaped and arranged together as shown in the aioresaid ont.
5. The design for the side plate G, distinguished by the lower part extending forward of the upper portion, and the front end of the lower part inclined forward and upward, with the upper part straight and the lower part concave, and all bordered by the compound molding, in combination with the panels 7L h, bordered by tliebead-lnolding j and having truncated corners z', and a part of the forward panel upon that part of the plate which extends forward of the upper portion, substantially as shown and described..
