UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES A. BAILEY, OF CROMWELL, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE J. AND E. STEVENS CO., OF CROMWELL, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A TOY STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,081, dated Septemb r 28, 1902.
Application filed June 11,1902. Serial No. 111,211- Term of patent 7 years.
T at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLEs A. BAILEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cro n1- well, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design for Toy Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
My design relates to stoves, and more especially to the class of toy stoves, and has for its object to provide a stove of this character in which the special configuration and ornamentation will be attractive and pleasing to the eye, the general scheme of design being carried out in all parts of the stove, as will appear in the drawings, in which Figure 1 is an elevation of one side of the stove, including the doors which lead to the oven and to the fire-pot. Fig. 2 is an elevation of the front of the stove. Fig. 3 is an elevation of the side of the stove opposite to that shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a view of the rear end of the stove. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the shelf.
The essential feature of the design is the foliated scroll-work and other ornamentation found on the base, oven-door, fire and ash pot doors, and on the front and sides.
A designates the base of the stove, the aprons a a of the opposite sides being provided centrally with a trefoil ornament b, fluted, as shown, and from the opposite ends of this central ornament extend fluted scrolls I), while the other part of the apron is provided with diagonal ribs W. The apron a at the front of the stove is ornamented in a manner similar to the aprons just described, having the fluted trefoil ornament b and diagonal ribs b The oven-door'A is of theconfiguration shown, with the upper forward corner cut away, and centrally this door has a raised panel, in which is a name-plate c and floral scroll 0. Around the border is a conventional scroll c -and at the rear end short ribbed O bands a between which is a floral scroll a", similar to that in the panel, while at the forward corners are curved ribs 0 On the side of the stove with the oven-door and in front of the same is a rosette d, representing a damper, and above this rosette is a raised portion a in imitation of a door and having a fluted ornament, as shown, a similarly-ornamented raised portion a being located in the rear of the door.
The front of the stove above the shelf A is raised to represent a door, the upper curved portion of which is ornamented by a floral scroll e in keeping with the scrollwork on the oven -door. The lower portion of this raised part is provided with openings 9 to imitate a damper, and the surface is provided with crossed lines 6 as shown.
The rear side of the stove, Fig. 8, is ornamented above the apron with a large floral scroll f in keeping with the other floral scrolls hereinbefore referred to and in addition thereto in the rearward extension of the stove is provided with a raised portion, similar to and ornamented in like manner as the projection a The rear end of the stove is provided with a sunken panel ornamented with a floral scroll h, and below said panel is a curved border 1', with a scroll in keeping with all the other floral scrolls.
The shelf A is provided on its upper surface with a floral scroll Z, which is slightly different from but in keeping with the scroll a on the rear side of the stove.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The ornamental design for a toy stove, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix; my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
CHAS. A. BAILEY.
Witnesses:
