NIOHOLAS S. VEDDER, OF TROY, AND TOBIAS S. HEISTER, OF LANSINGBURG, ASSIGNORS TO NICHOLAS S. VEDDER, OF TROY, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR BOX-STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,69 I dated January 2, 1877 application filed November 28, 1876. [Term of Patent 7 yearn] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, NICHOLAS S. VED- DER of the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, and To BIAS S. HEISTER, of the village of Lansingburg, in said county and State, have jointly invented and produced a new and original ornamental Design for Box-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying cut, print, or woodengraving of a box-stove having our said new design.
One part of this invention is the design for the top A, of oblong quadrilateral form, with straight sides and rounded ends, and having the flat upper and inner surface a surrounded by the inverted cyma-recta molding b, and the dat surface c with the beveled and steeply-inclined outer border d, all shaped and disposed substantially as represented in the accompanying engraving.
Another part of this invention is the design for the front door and side plates, consisting of the compound panel ornament B, composed of the oblong tablet e, having the angular and concavely-curved compound border f, with the end ornaments g flaring angular side extension h, and the daring side wings i, having concave sides and convex ends, with ornaments j, and the oval base-molding k, having semicircular ornaments l along the edges, all shaped and combined substantially as represented in the aforesaid cut, in combination with the compound corner orna- `ments O, consisting of the three-cleft angle ornament m, with lateral scroll-vines n on the ground o, surrounded by the bead p, and having the truncated corners q and the concave side r, with scroll-vine ornamentations s along that side, all shaped and arranged together subftantially as represented in the aforesaid print.
Another part is the design for the border D for the ends and sides of the panels of the door and side plates, consisting of the series of connected, uniform, 4inwardly-projecting raised parts t, having straight, flat ends alternating with the angular recesses u, and having thereon the continuons edge-bead v and the series of semi-globular projections w, alternating with the angular recesses, all shaped and arranged as represented in the aforesaid cut.
Another part is the design for the whole outer portion of the panels E of the side plates and doors, consisting of the four corner ornaments C and the four ornamental borders D, each shaped and composed as above specified, and all arranged and disposed together substantially as represented in the aforesaid engraving.
Another part is the design for the legs F, consisting of the smooth, nnornamented, swelling, oval center piece w, surrounded by the molding and surmounted by the diamond ornament y, the side-scroll molding y", the triangular recesses z, with curved sides, and the ornamented foot-block z', all shaped and combined as represented in the aforesaid cut.
What we claim as our invention is 1. The design for the top A, consisting of the parts a, b, c, and d, all shaped and arranged as shown and described.
2. The design for tbe'front door and side plates, consisting of the compound central ornament B, composed of the parts e, f, g, h, j, k, and l, in combination with the corner ornaments O, composed of the parts m, n, 0, p, q, r, and s, as described and shown.
3. The design for the ornamental border D, for the sides and ends of the panels of the door and side plates, composed of the parts t, u, '0, and w, all shaped and arranged together as described and shown.
4. The design for the outer portion of the panels E of the door and side plates, consisting of the compound corner ornaments C and border ornaments D, each composed and all combined as set forth.
5. The design for the legs F, consisting of the parts w, x', y, y', z, and z', all shaped and combined as shown and described.
