Specification forming part of Design No. 9,343, dated June 13, 1876; `application tiled May 25, 1876.

[Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, GEORGE A. WELLs and JOHN P. HOGAN, each of the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original ornamental Design for Cooking- Ranges, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying cut, print, or engraving of a cooking-range, which embodies our said new design.

One part of this invention consists of the design for the inner portion of/tlie panels, composed of the rectangular raised flat por tion A, having a pitted surface with lettering' b thereon of the style commonly known as Old English, without any interlaced or check-work ornamentation upon the dat tablet A, and Without any raised bead or tillet along or around the edge thereof, the plain, smooth, flat, beveled border c, without any concave molding therein, and the surround ing depressed dat surface d, all shaped and arranged as shown in the aforesaid cut.

Another part of this invention is the design for the outer portion of the doors, consisting of the outer plain inclined angular molding E, the inner plain angular raised molding F, the intervening convex molding G, and the angle ornaments H, each composed of the central arrow-head i, and lateral scroll-heads j j, connected bythe tie k, all shaped and arranged to gether substantially as shown iu the aforesaid print.

Another part of this invention is the general design for the panels, composed of the central rectangular tablet A, having beveled edges c surrounded by a narrow depressed surface d, the narrow angular bead l, the

molding F, and the intermediate rectangular chain-like ornamentation M, all shaped and arranged so as to appear substantially as represented in the aforesaid engraving, with or without lettering on the central tablet.

Another part of this invention is the design for the reservoir-bracket N, composed of the middle circular band o, inclosing the central ornamental letter p, and the intermediate pointed arches g alternating with the threepointed ornaments r, in combination with the compound scroll Work corner portions s and t, and the ornamented top-bar u, all shaped and arranged together so as to present substantally the same appearance as is represented in the aforesaid print.

What We claim as our joint invention is l. The design for the inner portion of the panels, composed of the raised flat rectangular tablet A, having a pitted surface extended to the edges thereof, and Old English lettering thereon, but without any raised border or interlaced ornamentation, the smooth tlat beveled border c, and the surrounding depressed liat surface d, all as shown and described.

2. The design for the outer portion ot' the doors, composed of the outer and inner raised angular moldings E and F, the intervening convex molding G, and the corner ornamentation H, consisting of the parts ,j, and k, all shaped and arranged as described.

3. The general design for the panels,con sisting of the central rectangular tablet A, with beveled border c, the narrow depressed surface d, angular bead l, and molding F, and rectangular chain-like ornamentation M, all shaped and arranged as set forth.

4. The design for the bracket N, composed of the parts 0,19, q, Ir, s, t, and u, all shaped and disposed as described.
