DESIGN FOR A SLAB FOR TABLE-TOPS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 23,286, dated May 22, 1891.
Application filed April 23, 1894. Serial No.508fl20. Term of patent 3% years.
T0 at whom it may concern:
Be itknown that I, JOHN C. MILLER, ot' Wa- "9rbury,in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for a Slab for Table-Tops; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification and represents a top or face View of a slab for table-tops illustrating the design.
This invention relates to a design for slabs for table-tops, and the design consists in the configuration and ornamentation as shown in the accompanying illustration. The central portion of the slab is oval, surrounded by a border A, of substantially rectangular outline. At each corner is a shell and scroll ornament B, separated from the inner plain band C by open foliated scrolls and leaves. These shell ornaments are connected at the ends by a fret-work D, springing from a central ornament E, and merging into an open floriated tracery F, surmounted by a flat reverse scroll G, which extends over and forms one half of the curved border of the shell ornament B. The sides consist of a long scroll H, springing from a central shell ornament I, and separated from the inner band C, by a narrow open lloriated branch J, springing from the center and tapering toward the corners. The sides are connected with the shell ornaments B, by an open scroll ornamentation K, which curves over and forms the other half of the curved border of the shell B, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
