DESlGN FOR COOKING-RANGES.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, NICHOLAS S. VEDDER, of the city of Troy, in the county of ltensselaer and State of New York, and FRANCIS RITCHIE, of the same place, have jointly invented and produced a new and original ornamental Dcsign for Cooking-Ranges, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying cut, print, or engraving oi a cooking-range having our said new design.
One part of this invention consists of the design for the panel A, composed of the central stem 0, having leaves d d on the sides thereof, and the compound base branches F F formed by the bud,leaf, and flower branches 9 g h h i, all shaped and disposed together in intaglio form in the plain surface of the panel, so as to appear substantially as represented in the aforesaid engravin The design for the panel It is considered substantially the same as that of the panel A,
and consists of the central stem, '1, having leaves a u and compound base branches V V formed by the bud, leaf, and flower branches w w 20 all shaped and disposed together, as shown in the aforesaid cut.
Another part consists of the design for the outer portion of the oven-door, composed of the inclined rectangular frame-like surface L, with the continuous rectangular row of alter nating rcversely-arranged scroll ornaments m on and around the middle portion thereof, and the outer border, N, formed of the outside inclined molding, 0, the inner scalloped molding, p, and the intervening curved moldings, q, all shaped and arranged together, as shown in the aforesaid print.
Another part consists of the design for the oven-door 1'3, composed of the compound ornament 0 F F in the plain surface j of the oblong rectangular panel A, surrounded by the head It, the inclined surface L having the row of revcrsely-arranged scroll ornaments a thereon, and the outer border, N, formed of the outside inclined molding, 0, the inner sealloped molding, p, and the intervening curved molding, q, all shaped and disposed, so as to appear substantially as represented in the aforesaid out.
Another part consists of the design for the closetdoor S, composed of the central cont pound engraved ornament T V V on the plain surface of the oblong rectangular panel 1t, surrounded by the bead k, the inclined surfaces L, and the outer border, N, formed by the outside inclined molding, o inner scalloped molding, 1;, and intermediate curved 1nold ings, q, all shaped and arranged together, as represented in the aforesaid out.
Another part consists of the design for the compound panel ornament X, composed of the central stem, 3 having leaves at the sides and bracts at the top, and the two lateral curved bottom branches, 2 z, with bracts or leaflets thereon, all shaped and disposed in engraved form in the plain surface of the panel, substautiall y as represented in the aforesaid engraving.
The ornament G, composed of the central stein, a, with leaves and bracts thereon, and the curved bottom branches, 1) I), is considered to be essentially the same as the ornament X above described.
Another part consists of the design for the door H, composed of the compound depressed ornament Gr in the plain rectangular panelsurface 0 surrounded by the bead 7c, the inclined surface L around the head It, and the outer border, N, formed by the inclined outer molding, o inner scalloped molding, p and intermediate moldings, q, all shaped and arran god together, substantially as sh own in the aforesaid cut.
The design for the door E is composed of the intaglioornament X in the panel 1), surrounded by the bead k inclined surface L and outer border, N formed by the moldings 0 ,11 and (1 all shaped and combined as shown in the aforesaid print, and is considered substantially the same as the d csignfor the door ll.
Another part consists of the design for the upper end plate, K, composed of the two ornamented panels M M, each having a straight bottom and sides and rounded top, and COllI posed of the central rectangular panel, n, ornamented by the central stem, 7, and side branches 8, and surrounded by the bead t, the plain surface v surrounding the panel a, and
the outer border molding, I, having a scalloped inner edge, all shaped and disposed together, as represented in the aforesaid out.
Another part consists of the design for the lower end plate, P, composed of the central compound ornament, w at, extending horizontally on the oblong rectangular inner panelsurface, Q, the bead U around the inner panelsurfaee, Q, the plain surface I around the bead U, and the outside border molding, Y, having a scalloped inner edge around the surface W, all shaped and arranged together, and upon the plate P, as represented in the aforesaid print.
Another part consists of the design for the leg Z, composed of the centralimpressed flowerstem, (1., and side leaf-branches, c c, in the smooth convex surface having the side border moldings, j j, united together at an acute angle at the bottom and the outer moldings, r, all shaped and disposed so as to appear as represented in the aforesaid print.
What we claim as ourjoint invention is 1. The design for the panel A, composed of the central stem, 0, with side leaves, (I d, and the lateral base branches, F F, formed by the leaf, bud, and flower branches g g, h h, and i, all shaped and disposed substantially as described.
2. The design for the outer portion of the oven-door, composed of the inclined plain surface L, with the scroll ornaments m thereon, and the outer border, N, formed by the moldings 0,12, and q, all shaped and arranged together, as specitied and shown.
3. The design for the oven-door B, composed of the compound ornament O 1* F, surface j, head is, inclined surface L, series of ornaments,
m, and outer border, N, formed of the parts 0, p, and q, as described and shown.
4. The design for the closet-door S, com posed of the compound ornament T V V, plain surface of the panel B, bead k, inclined surface L, and outer border moldings N all formed, shaped, and arranged as shown and described.
5. The design for the panel ornament X, composed of the stem 3 with 'side leaves, and the base branches, z 2, having bracts or leaflets thereon, all shaped and disposed substantially as herein set forth.
6. The design 'for the door H, composed of the ornamental impression Gin the panel 0, bead k inclined surface L and outer border, N all shaped, combined, and arranged together, as shown and described.
7. The design for the upper-end plate, K, consisting of the compound panels M M, composed of the inner panels, a, with ornaments r s, bead it, plain surface '0, and border l, all shaped and arranged as shown and described.
8. The design for the lower-end plate, P, composed of the compound ornament m w on the inner panel, Q, the bead U, plain surface W, and outside border moldings Y, all shaped and arranged as set forth.
9. The design for the leg Z, composed of the ornamentations a c 0, surface '5', side moldings,jj', and outer moldings, r, all shaped and combined as shown and described.
