SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,208, dated March 22, 1887.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that l, GURDON G. \VOLFE, of the city of Troy, county of Rensselaer, State of New York, have invented a new and use ful Design in Top Ornaments for Stoves, Of

which the following is a specification.

My design relates to the top ornaments of stoves, as the some is shown in the accompany ing photograph, forming a part of this speci- 1c ficntion, in which the several parts of the ornament are designated by letters and the surface ornamentation by numbers, and as follows:

The letter 1 designates the pedestahhaving the beveled molding 5, extending upwardly and inwardly, the iilleted reversing ovolo molding 6, the plate molding 7, the upper re versing ovolo molding,8, and plate molding 9, and the base ovolo molding and band 10, all arranged in revolution upon the pedestal.

The letter U designates the urn-form cup of the ornament, arranged upon and above the pedestal I and around the column 0, the latter passing up through the cup center; and the letters B designate brackets, which at their 2 5 lower ends form exteriorly-placed and radiallyarranged grooves 4 for the cup exterior, and which, where extended above the'edge of the latter, curve inwardly and upwardly it; scroll formation for attachment to the pedestal, and 0 then curve therefrom downwardly and outwardly, having a. terminal animal-head of newt: delineation, 2. The interior face of these brackets, Where over the cup interior, are con volutely serolled,as indicated at 3,and between l each two of these brackets, where extended radiate] y downward on the cup exterior, there is arranged a cherub tigure,1l,with vermiform ornamentation 12 between each of the cherub figures and the radially-arranged grooves.

The letter N designates a bulb having an 0 antique-bottle form,arranged on the column 0 where projecting up through the cup U, and R abulton, also arranged upon said column above the radially arranged heads on the brackets. Upon the colnnnnnbove the button R, is an ornament, H, having an inverted-bottle form, and above the latter the buttons 13 14 and the apex ornament 15.

Having thus described my design, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, lS-

The design for a stove-top ornament, consisting of the pedestal P, the cup U, having the eherubic figures, the brackets 13, surmounted by animal-heads in newt delineation, the column 0, with the bulb N and button It, and the inverted'boit]esheped ornament, all having the shape and ornamentation as shown and described.
