[Term of Patent 31} years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, X1CIIOLAs S.VEDDER, of the city of Troy, in the county of Reasselaer and State of New York, and Tonms S. HEISTER, of Lansingburg, in said county of ltensselaer, New York, have jointly invented and produced a new and original ornamental Design for Heating-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying cut, print, or engraving of a stove having our said new design.
One part of this invention consists of the design for the cover A, composed of the oval, flat upper part, b, with the raised ornament c on each end portion, the convex portion (1 having the row of drop-ornaments 0 along the upper part, and the serrated border f along the lower part, the concave molding 1 having a bead and serrated border h along its lower and outer edge, and the concave molding '2'. having thereon the series of upwardly-pointed ornaments j, alternating with the series of upwardly-contracted ornaments 7;, and united thereto by a scalloped outer border, all shaped, ornamented, and combined substantiall as represented in the aforesaid out.
Another part consists of the design for the top plate, L, composed of the broad concave portion on, having thereon the series of upwardl y-pointin g ornaments n, altcrnatin g with the series of ornaments 0, which flare at the base to the bottoms of the ornaments n, and have on the middle part of each an upwardly pointed row of decreasing semi-globular ornainentations 1), the whole being shaped, ornamented, and arranged together, as shown in the aforesaid print.
Another part consists of the design for the door Q, composed of the central panel surface r, ornamented by the two series of diagonally crossing ribs enlarged in the middle between each crossing-point, with corresponding depressions between the crossed ribs, the sealloped border and moldings s, the plain surface t, the series of beveled oblong angular projections '11, and the ornamental outer border '1 formed by two open-twisted fillets, with a series of semi-globnlar projections in the openings between thctwistsofthelillets,all shaped, ornamented, and arranged together, substantially as represented in the aforesaid engraving.
Another part consists of the design for the doorframe \V, composed of the central crowning ornament .r, with lateral sci olleat' branchcs 3 3 the plain border surface the central base ornament .1", with lateral scroll leaf branches 3 y, and the inclined surface (I, hav ing thereon the series of ornaments I, each formed by a long central linger and a shorter one close to it on each side, all pointing inward, the whole being shaped and arranged so as to appear as represented in the aforesaid print.
Another part consists of the design for the base-plate 15, composed of the inner concave part 0, having thereon the inwardly and upwardly pointing scroll ornaments (1, alternating with the inwardly and upwardlw pointing fiveiinger ornaments 2c, the plane surface 1) having thereon the scroll-leaves E E at the ends of the wider front hearth, and the concave border F, having on its side and after portions onl the series of ornaments G, all shaped and disposed as represented in the aforesaid illustrative engraving.
We do not herein claim the design for the urn represented in the aforesaid cut, print, or engraving, on the cover of the stove.
\Vhat we claim as our joint invention is 1. The design for the cover A, composed of the upper part b, with ornaments c, the portion (I, with the ornaments c and serrated borderf, the concave molding g, with the serrated border lz, and the concave molding i, having thereon the series of alternating ornaments j and It, all shaped and arranged as shown and described.
2. The design for the top plate L, composed of the concave portion m, having thereon the series of ornaments n, alternating with the ornaments 0 1), all shaped and disposed as described and shown.
3. The design for the door Q, composed of the central ornamental panel surface 1', seat loped border and moldings s, plain surface I,
series of beveled ornamentations u, and the ornamental border 1*, all formed, shaped, ornamented, and combined, as specified and shown.
4. The design for the door-frame W', composed of the crowning ornaments m and 3 31, the plain border surface z, the bottom ornaments a2 and y y, and the inclined surface a, with tri-fin ger ornaments l thereon, all shaped and disposed as shown and specified.
5. The design for the base plate B, composed of the inner concave molding G, with the ornaments q and w alternating thereon, the plane-surface 1) with scroll-leaves E E, and the concave molding F, having the ornaments G, all shaped and arranged as shown.
