DESIGN FOR STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 7,408, dated April 28, 1874; application liled April 21, 1574.
[Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, WILLIAM A. S.r1cnn,of the city and county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Stoves, which 1' have entitled a Design for the Medallion Parlor-Heater, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying photograph, A represents the base of the stove, upon which rests the body B, the latter being of an oval or cylindrical form. 0 is the top of the stove, surmounted by the urn D. Each corner of the base A is ornamented with a pillar, p, with a panel, l, on each side of it, the panels having a rosette, 'r, in the center of each, and the pillars being convex. The moldings m m around the bottom and top of base A are recessed at the corners. The molding m around the top 0 is recessed directly over each corner of the base, in the same manner as the basenioldin gs, and is ornamented at these points by a rosette, as shown. Each side of the base A, contiguous to the front, which is occupied by the ashdoor, has a raised panel, I, with corners rounded and recessed, and a female medallion head in the center. The moldings m m present flat sloping surfaces at 8, instead of being concave or convex. On the top of the base A, at each corner, and inside of the molding, is a rosette in a depression. The door-frame of the feed-door, E, is composed of raised panels on each side, similar to those at the corners of the base, with rosette finish, as shown, and with an arched top, ornamented with leaf and scroll work, and medallion in the center. The door F is surrounded with raised molding, recessed and rounded at each corner, with a circular opening in the center, to be closed with mica,
and otherwise ornamented, as shown. The top 0 is further ornamented inside the molding by the leaf and scroll work is. The waternrn U consists of two parts the howl to, with scroll-stainlards and open fintcd work, and leaf ornament, and the cup 0, with a rim or jet overhanging the edge of the bowl, by means of which the cup may be lifted out of the bowl.
I claim- 1. The design, as herein shown, of the base A of a stove, consisting of the moldings m we around the top and bottom thereof, the pillars 1), panels I, with rosette in the center, and the panels I, having the medallions in the center, all as described and shown.
2. The design for the top of a stove, consisting of the melding of, recessed at the corners, and ornamented at these points with rosettes, and the leaf and scroll work it, as shown.
3. The door-frame E, as shown, with panels and rosette finish, arched top, and leaf and scroll work, and medallion in center, together with the door F, all as shown and described.
l. The nrn U in two parts, via, the bowl to and cup 0, the latter with overhanging jet, all constructed and ornamented as described.
5. The combination of the several features of a design, as hereiubefore shown and described, and composed of the moldings m on m the pillars p, the panels l l, with rosette and medallion in center, the door-frame E, with side pillars and rosettes, and arched top, ornamented with leaf and scroll work and medallion, the door F, the leaf and scroll work 7.: around the top of the stove, and urn U.
