To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, NICHOLAS S. VEnnER, a resident of Troy in the county of Rensse laer and State of l lew York, and Tomas S. HEISTER, a resident of Lansingbnrg, in said county and State, have jointly invented and produced a nen and original ornamental Design for Parlor-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying out, print, or engraving of a stove which embodies our said new design.
One part of our invention consists of the design for the cover S, as distinguished by the convex lower and outer molding t and the concave upper and inner molding u, each havin g thereon a row of upwardly-pointing ornaments, and both shaped and arranged as shown in the engraving.
Another part of our invention consists of the design for the inclined upper end plate V,
as distinguished by the single imitation dormer-window :0, having its gable, frame, sash and imitation lights, all shaped, arranged, an ornamented as shown in the accompanying cut.
Another part consists of the design for the inclined upper front plate X, as distinguished by the one large central dormer-window y and the two lateral smaller ones z 2, each having its gahl fi'amc, sash, and imitation lights, all she-pe d, arranged, and ornamented as shown in the aforesaid illustration. It is not new to have a single ornamented imitation dormerwindow on an inclined end plate, and one large central and two smaller lateral dormerwindows on the inclined front plate, of the upper section of a stove; and the last two aforesaid parts of our invention are limited to the particular shape and ornamentation of the dormer-windows w and y z 2, as shown in the accompanying print.
Another art of our invention consists of the design or the front doors A A, composed of the central ornament b and ornamental border 0 on and around the rectangular smooth swelling surface of each door, theornament b having parallel sides and truncated corners, from which latter ribbed bands extend to the center of the swelling body, while angular projections extend from the four sides thereof, and the ornamental molding 0 being composed of the transversely-fluted middle part, with radially-ornamented square projections on the corners, and the plain outside and toothed inside borders, all shaped and arranged so as to appear as represented in the aforesaid out. Another part of our invention consists of the design for the door D, composed of the ornament b and molding e on and around the flat panel of the door, the ornament I) being similar to the aforesaid ornament b, and the molding 0 being transversely fluted and extended along the straight bottom, parallel sides, and arched top of the panel, and have ing on each corner and on the middle of the arch a radially-ornamented raised projection, and the whole being shaped and disposed so as to appear as shown in the aforesaid print.
Another part of our invention consists of the design for the front plates F and G, as distinguished by the ornamental panels h and i, the panel h being on the end parts of the plate F, and having a smooth fiat surface, with a straight bottom, parallel sides, and rounded top, bordered by a molding having a toothed or scalloped inner edge, and the panel 1; being on the end portions of the plate G, and havingasmooth fiat surface of oblong rectangular iform, bordered by a moldin g having a toothed orscallopcd innercdge, and all thcparts shaped and disposed so as to appear as represented in the aforesaid illustrative out.
Another part of our invention consists of the design for the plate J, as distinguished by the middle plain tablet portion and the oblong rectangular end panels I: 1:, each surrounded by a molding having an inner toothed or sealloped edge, all shaped and arran ged as shown in the aforesaid engraving.
The urn, upper and lower top plates lower end plates, base-plate, and legs may each have any desired design and we do not herein claim the design for any of those parts, as shown in the accompanying engraving.
What we claim as our joint invention is-- 1. The design for the cover S, composed of the ornamented convex molding t and the ornamented concave molding u, shaped and arranged as shown and described.
2. The design for theinclined upper end plate V, as distinguished by the single imitation dormer-window 10, having its parts shaped, ornamented, and arranged together as described and shown.
3. The design for the inclined upper front plate X, as distinguished by the central large imitation dormer-window y and the two smaller lateral oneszz, having the several parts thereof shaped, ornamented, and arranged as described and represented.
4. The design forthe front slidingdoorsAA, composed of the central ornament b and ornamental -border 0, all shaped and disposed as herein described and shown.
5. The design for the end door D, composed of the central ornament b and ornamental border e, all shaped and arranged on and around the panel of the door, as shown in the illustratiye engraving.
6. The design for the front plates F and G,
s distinguished by the panels I: and i, shaped, located, and surrounded by ornamental border moldings, as shown and described.
7. The design for the band-plate J composed of the ornamental end panels k k and the intermediate plain tablet, all shaped and arranged as herein described, and represented in the accompanying illustrative print.
