UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES EDIVARD HAVILAND, OF LIMOGES, FRANCE.
DESIGN FOR A TEAPOT OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,784, dated March 4, 1902.
Application filed February 3, 1902. Serial No. 92,430. Term of patent '7 years.
To all 1072 0777, it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, CHARLES EDWARD HAVI- LAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Limoges, in the Republic of France, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Teapot or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a teapot bearing and incorporating my design, and Fig. 2 is a top elevation of same.
The leading feature of my design consists of the shape and configuration of the teapot, substantially as shown. 7
In the drawings, A designates the body of the teapot, and B the cover therefor.
The cover B bears at its raised center the ornate handle 0, and adjacent to its outer edges said cover is ornamented with a sealloped scroll outline D. I
ThebodyA is of special shape and configuration, and the sides thereof are vertically scalloped, as at E, and incline downward and inward on graceful converging lines. The
lower edges of the sides of the body A are scalloped and bear the edge ornamentation F, and from said lower edges the body A turns inward to the ornamental base G, this inwardly-turned portion ofthe body A being denoted by the letter Hand being scalloped. The upper edges of the sides of the body A are also scalloped and hear at equidistant points the ornate scroll figures I. From the scalloped upper edge of the sides of the body A the said body turnsinward to form the top J of the teapot, this top around the usual opening for the cover B having the scalloped rim bearing the scroll ornamentation K.
At one side of the body Ais the ornamental handle L, and at the opposite side thereof is the ornate spout M.
What I claim is- The design for a teapot or similar article, substantially as shown and described.
Signed at Limoges, in the Republic of France, this 20th day of January, A. D. 1902.
