DAVID F. HAYNES, 0F BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
DESIGN FOR A Ewen 0R JUG.
SPECIFICATION foiihihg art of Design No. 32,848, dated June 19, 1900.
Application filed May 10, 1900. Serial No. 16,235. Tetiii of patent 3i years.
To all! whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID F. HAYNES, a. citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, Maryland, have invented and pro- 5 duced a new and original Design for a Ewer or Jug, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the drawings forming a part thereof, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the ewer or jug, and Fig. 2 a top view of the same.
I describe the ewer or jug as follows:
The lower body A, as seen from either side thereof, has a general hemispherical form, and the edge of the base B, upon which the said body rests, has a waved outline. The lower body as seen from the top is oval, except that there is formed in the center a panel C, the edges of which are depressed. The upper body D at its narrowest part is almost circular, as seen from the top, and it sweeps out to meet the lower body A. At the junction of the upper and lower bodies is a bold scroll E. The top portion of the upper body flares outwardly to meet the handle G at the rear and to form the lip H in front. The
edge of the upper body has the general form of a reverse curve, and its edge is scalloped.
The handle, which springs from the bold scroll E at the rear portion of the lower body, is composed of two principal elements. The upper element terminates in a grotesque head, and the lower element proceeds from the mouth of the head and extends to the bold scroll E at the rear of the vessel.
Thopanel C is decorated with scrollwork and terminates in a point on the upper body. There is also detached scrollwork at the sides of the central scroll of the panel and ad= jaceut to the upper edge of the upper body.
I claim as my invention- The design for a ewer orjug, herein shown and described.
DAVID F. HAYNES.
