AUSTIN F. JACKSON, OF TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE REED dz BARTON CORPORATION, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A TEA OR COFFEE POT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,727, dated August 22, 1893.
Application filed June 23, 1893- Serial No. 478,663- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUSTIN F. JACKSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Taunton,in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Tea or Coffee Pots; and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure] is a side elevation of my newly designed tea or coffee pot. Fig. 2 is a diagrammatic plan view of the bowl or body portion thereof.
My design consists in the peculiar and novel shape and ornamentation of the bowl, and mount and top which form the body of the tea or colTee pot, and in the peculiar and novel shape and ornamentation of the spout and handle.
The leading features of my design are the external configuration and horizontal contour of the bowl, and the peculiar and novel ornamentation or arabesque mounts at the top and bottom, and also the peculiar shape and ornamentation of the spout and handle.
In horizontal plan the design presents an oblong figure formed of short convex end su rfaces a and longer convexed side surfaces 0; a, which surfaces or. or join at their ends to form groove like representations a B is the base, from which the bowl curves outwardly and upwardly to its largest diameterb, which is near its upper end, from which point, the bowl curves abruptly inward as at b, such curve terminating at the upper edge in an outwardly projecting ornamental mount 0 which comprises a central arabesque c, oppositely arranged scroll like portions 0, and intermediate scroll like figures 0 At the base of the bowl are scroll like ornamentations D, which surround it and terminate in the leg representations (1 d which have scroll ornamentations d on their faces, and floral like ornaments d, where they merge with the base ornamentations D.
E is the top representation of a somewhat conical shape. It has convex end and side so rfaces, with grooves or crimps as in Fig. 2, and is surmounted byau ornamental skeleton like knob e. The spout emerges with a broad base of an irregular contour at the lower side, and as it extends upwardly and outwardly it tapers to a smaller size to its end which is ornamented with a reversely curved and scrolled marginal lip f having an ornamental and raised collar 9 turned back upon the spout. Upon the broad lower end of the spout is a ragged or irregular raised ornamentation t' bounded at its upper end by a. raised scroll h. The handle connects at the top and bottom of the bowl with a bold upwardly curved scroll j andj', adjoining which are the transverse plain bands It k. The inwardly bent middle part m of the handle is fluted or crimped longitudinally, and where joined on to the bands k k is provided with scrolls and arabosque work l and 71..
What I claim is- 1. In the design for the tea and coflfee pot as herein shown and described, the design for the body part as shown and described.
2. In the design for the tea and coffee pot as herein shown and described, the design for the handle as shown and described.
3. In the design for the tea and coffee pot as herein shown and described, the design for the spout as shown and described.
