WITNEEEEE: INYENTUH.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE! CHARLES C. WIENTGE, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, ASSIGN OR TO THE HOWARD STERLING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A BOWL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,798, dated September 26, 1893.
Application filed July 28,1893- Serial No. 481,771- Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES C. WIENTGE, of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Bowls of Tea-Sets; and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My design consists in the peculiar and novel shape and ornamentation of the bowl and its base, which form the most important part of the several articles usually associated together to form a tea-set. In these articles I preserve the usual conventional form by which they are distinguished from each other, as the coiTee-pot, the tea-pot, hot-water pot, the cream-bowl, sugar-bowl, and the slopbowl, and give to the bowl the peculiar and novel shape and ornamentation which characterize the various pieces.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my new design for bowls, the top of a tea-pot with the handle and spout of the same being indicated by broken lines. Fig. 2 represents a crosssectional View of the same.
The leading features of my new design consist in the hexagonal bowl, having a general inverted truncated conical appearance, surmounted by a circular concave rim and supported on the concavo conical base having an hexagonal edge.
In the drawings 2 represents the conical base the surface of which is slightly concaved, the edge of the base being divided into vertical hexagonal planes 33. Between the base and the bowl is the convex-head 4. The greatest diameter of the bowl 5 is toward the top, the hexagonal panels 66 extending downward in convex planes and contracting in diameter until they join the bead 4, giving the appearance of an inverted truncated cone to this portion of the bowl. Above the hexagonal panels 66 the bowl is abruptly contracted to form the concave circular portion 7, the circular edge of which is surrounded by a beading 8.
What I claim is- The design for the bowl herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set no hand.
CHARLES C. VVIENTGE.
