Description

DESIGN.
B. DAVIES.
BOWL 0R VESSEL.
y latented May 31, 1898.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BENJAMIN DAVIES, OF \VEST I'IOBOKEN, NEIV JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO L. STRAUS & SONS, OF NEIV YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A BOWL OR VESSEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,733, dated May 31, 1898.
Application filed March 28, 1898- Sarial No. 675,506. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN DAVIES, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at \Vest Hoboken, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Surface Decoration for Glass Vessels or Beceptacles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, formingapart thereof.
This in vention relates to an original design for surface decoration for glass vessels or receptacles, such as bowls; and it is embodied in the configuration and arrangement of features presently to be described, and shown in the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a vessel showing the design.. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view.
The design, as illustrated, comprises a series of circular fields A, arranged in line and at intervals around the outer face of the bowl, and between the fields A are the tapering depressions or fields B, extending substantially from the center of the bowl to the edge thereof and having their dividing-ridges indented, as at b, the indentation of the inner ridges being somewhat larger or more pronounced than those of the outermost ridges. The edge of the bowl or receptacle above the circular fields is curved and formed with a series of angular indentations, while the edge of the bowl above the depressions or valleys is conveniently straight, with angular depressions formed therein. At the base of the bowl, in radial alinement with the circular fields, are the radiating grooves C.
The essential feature of the design is the bowl or receptacle having thereon the circular fields arranged at intervals with the valleys between, the latter radiating from a c0mmon center at the base.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a bowl or vessel having the decorations thereon, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
BENJAMIN DAVIES.
