DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,453, dated May 23, 1893.
Application filed March 15, 1893. Serial No. 466,142- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUSTIN F. JACKSON, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Taunton, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Handles of Spoons, Forks, Knives, Ladles, &c., of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a face view and,Fig. 2,isaback View of a spoon showing my design.
The leading feature of my design consists in the ornamentation surrounding the edge of the upper or head portion of the handle. The handle A, has its upper or head portion ornamented around its edge on its front or face with an edge representation B, and on its back with an edge representation C. The representation B, includes a head scroll b, side scrolls b leading down therefrom along the opposite side of the handle, scrolls 12 extending down from the lower ends of the scroll b and the scrolls 19 leading from the scrolls b to the shank D upon which are produced longitudinally bead like representations 1) at the lower ends of which is produced the scroll b. The face of the head portion of the handle between the opposite scrolls Z), W, b is represented as bulged outward or convex. The representation C includes the head scroll c and the opposite edge scrolls c 0 leading down to the shank, the handle being depressed or concave between the said scrolls c c and the concave representation continuing in the shank to the scroll c at the end of the shank.
What I claim is- 1. In a design for the handle of a spoon, or similar article, the ornamented front or face thereof, as shown and described.
2. In a design for the handle of a spoon, or similar article, the back thereof, as shown and described.
3. The design for the ornamentation of the handles of spoons and similar articles herein shown and described.
