NICHOLAS S. YEDDER AND FRANCIS RITCHIE, OF TROY, AND TOBIAS S. HEISTER, OF LANSINGBURG, ASSIGNORS TO NICHOLAS S. VEDDER,
OF TROY, NEW YORK.
DESlGN FOR HEATING'STOVE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 7,014, dated December 2, 1873; application filed September 12, 1873. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, NICHOLAS S. VEDDEn and FRANCIS RrrcEtE, residents of the city of Troy, in the county ot' Rensselaer and State ot" New York, and Tontas S. HEis'rER, of Lansing. burg, in said county and State, have jointly invented and produced a new and original Design for the Top and Base of Stoves, ot' which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying wood cut or engraving of a stove, which embodies our said new design.
One part of our invention consists of the design for the cover A, as distinguished by the ornamental moldings b, c, and d, all shaped and arranged together on and around the upwardly and inwardly inclined lower portion of the oval cover, substantially as shown in the aforesaid cut. rlhe molding h consists ot' the smooth, stceplyinelined lower rim, separated by a ledge from the concave upper part, which has thereon a row of raised quadrangular orna ments, all connected together at their lateral corners, and otherwise shaped and arranged, as shown in the engraving. The molding c consists of a curved inclined surface, having thereon a series of raised circular or oval ornaments, all connected in a row, and each bearing a lobed ornament arranged thereon, as shown in the cut. The ornamental molding d consists of the narrow beads next to the molding c, and the row of closelyjoined, alternately tall and short, upwardly and inwardly pointing ornaments, based on the narrow beads, as shown in the ent.
The upper portion e of the cover may have any desired shape or ornamental configuration.
The general oval horizonal outline and upward and inward inclination of the coverfA are not new; and a cover of such general outlines with encircling ornamented moldings thereon is not new; and our invention, in regard to the design for the cover A, is limited to the combination of the moldings b, c, and d, constituted, shaped, and arranged together and around the oval inclined cover, as above specilied.
A top stove-plate having an oval inclined rim with ornamental moldings thereon is not new; but another part of our invention consists ot a design for the top-plate F, as distinguished by the ornamental moldings 0,- h, and i, all constituted, shaped, and arranged together upon and around the inclined oval-rim portion ot' the plate, substantially as hereinafter specitied, and shown inthe accompan yin gen gravin fr. The upper and inner molding, g, consists of an inclined surface with a row of diamondshapcd ornaments, connected together by round or oval beads, as shown in the cut. The middle molding h consists of an inclined surface, having thereon a row of round or oval projections, each having a radiating lobed ornament thereon, and all shaped and connected together with a. bead between each two, substantially as shown in the illustration. The outer and lower molding, i, consists of the smooth lower rim, the upper concave surface having thereon a row of separate quadrangular-pointed ornap ments with lateral projections, and the intermediate transversely-grooved band with an gu lai` projections thereon, substantially as represented in the wood-cut.
Another part of our invention consists ofthe design for the base-plate J, as distinguished by the ornamental moldings k, I, and m, all shaped and arranged together, as hereinafter specified, and shown in thc aforesaid engraving. The molding k consists of a concave surface, having thereon a row of ova-l projections,
Ishaped and connected together, as shown in the engraving. The molding l consists of a lower smooth rim, the adjacent ribbed or tinted band, and the upper portion having thereon the row of separate quadrangular ornaments with lateral projections at their angles, as shown in the print. The molding m consists of the lower smooth rim, the adjacent scalloped band, the row of separate angular projections, and the round upper band having serolllike ends bordering the hearth, all as shown in the en gravin v.
The general shape ot' the base-plate J isv not new; and we do not claim the design for either the urn, the feet or legs, the frontdraft registerframe, or the iredoor or its frame, shown in the accompanying illustration.
