DESIGN FOR A, COAL-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,917, dated May 22, 1883.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, H. CLAY BASCOM and CYRUS A. IloDGEs, citizens of the United States, residing in the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, and TOBIAS S. HEIs'r R, a citizen of the United States, residing in the village of Lansingburg. in said county and State, have jointly invented and produced a new and original Design to for Coal-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying cut, print, or engraving, illustrating said new design.
The design for the vaseA consists of a body composed of the semi-globular lower portion,
a, and higher concavely-curved part, b, in combination with a crest-plate composed of the top part, 0, lower side parts, 0!, and intervening portions, 6, all shaped, ornamented, and
arranged together so as to present substantially the same appearance as is represeu ted in the aforesaid print.
The design for the panels B consis s of the compound ornament C and panel-border D, all
shaped and arranged together so as to present substantially the same appearance as is illustrated in the aforesaid engraving.
The design for theornament 0 consists of the two curved moldings f, united in opposite o angles, and the oblique band 9, andjhe fruitand-leaf branch h, all shaped and disposed within said moldings substantially as shown in the aforesaid cut.
. The design for the combustion-chamber sec- 3 5 tion E consists of the mica-light door F and panel portions G, shaped, ornamented, and arranged so as to appear substantially the same as illustrated in the aforesaid print.
.The design for the fire-pot section H con- 0 sists of the open-work upper and lower parts, Land J each composed of special ornamental figures and forms, and arranged together so as to present substantially the same appearance as is represented in the aforesaid engraving.
The design for the base-section K consists of the quadrilateral bottom plate, L, having rounded corners i and the series of angle ornamentsj, in connection with the ash-pit portion M, having the form of a frustum of a foursided pyramid, with recessed rounded corners 0 k and the series of ornamentations land we, all shaped and arranged substantially as shown in the aforesaid print.
The design for the legs consists of the compound ornament N, having the three roundended bars n, with top and bottom ornaments, 01), on a swelled surface, q, having an orna mental edging, r, all shaped and arranged together substantially as shown in the aforesaid cut. 1
What we claim as our joint invention is 1. The design for the vase A, composed of the parts a b and c d e, shaped and arranged together as described.
2. The design for the panels B, composed of the compound inner ornament, C, and ornamental border D, composed and arranged together as set forth.
3. The design for the ornament C, consisting of the curved border-moldingsfand inner parts, 9 h, shaped and arranged as described.
4. The design for the combustion chamber section E, composed of the parts F and G, shaped, ornamented, and arranged together as set forth. 7 5
5. The design for the section H, consisting of the two open-work ornamental parts, I and J, composed, shaped, and arranged together as set forth.
