DESIGN FOR A HEATiNG-STOVE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,720, dated October 24, 1899.

Application filed September 27, 1899. Serial No. 731.871 Term of patent 7 years.

To all whom it near; concern.-

Be it known that I, MATTHEW GRISWOLD, Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and original Design for Heating-Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification.

The leading feature of my design consists, substantially, in the form and ornamentation of a heating-stove and embodies a circular subbase supported by legs and ornamented with foliate work, which base is surmounted by a cylindrical base-section having two annular bands of heading thereon, which section is surmounted by a subbody provided with a foot-rail, upon which a cylindrical stove-body is mounted, which stove-body is surmounted by an ornamented stove-top.

The figure shows a view in elevation of a heating-stove embodying my design.

In the drawing, A is the subbase of the stovenvhich is provided with legs B, flaring outward therefrom. This subbase A and the legs B are ornamented with raised foliate work a and triangular panels I) and a, having central bosses b. Upon the subbase A there is mounted the upper section 0 of the stove-base, which consists of a cylinder provided with two annular bands of heading 0. Surmounting the base-section 0 there is a substove-body section E, which curves outward and downward to a circular foot-rail F, the section E being provided with vertical slits c and the foot-rail F, having a plain band edgefand opening f therein. Snrrnonnting the substove-body E there is a cylindrical stove-body G, having annular bands 9 g of beadwork thereon, and below the beads g the stove-body G is perforated with annular rows of triangular openings H H, and between the rows of openings H H there is an annular row of groups hof round openings. Between the beads g and g on the front of the stove there is an ornamental name-plate I, and above the beads g there is an annular row of groups J of round openings in the stove-body G, and secured to the sides of the stove-body, near the top thereof, there is a hail K, the handle 7; of which is made of coiled wire. Surmounting the stove-body G there is an ornamental top consisting of a lower section L, projecting outward and downward beyond the stove-body and ornamented with raised foliate work Z. Surmouutiug the section L there is a band M, sloping outward and downward to the section L and ornamented with scrollwork m. Upon the section M the top section N rests, which is surmounted by a tulip-shaped urn O, the whole being provided with raised ornamental work comprising foliate and medallion figures 0 and 71.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

The design for a heating-stove, substantially as herein shown and described.
