'UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD G. GERMER, `OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,877, dated November 16, 189'?.
Application filed September 27, 1897. Serial No. 653,770. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom tf-may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARDv G. GERMEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and original Design for Heating-Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,
such as will enable others skilled in the art with raised scrollwork, a cylindrical stovebody surmounting a cylindrical fire pot mounted on said base, ornamental open-work brackets flaring downward and outward from the lower part of the stove-body and supporting an oval rail secured to the lower extremities thereof, a front on said cylindrical stovebody ornamented with scrollwork and also having a name-plate panel thereon, and an overhanging conically-shaped stove-top having its surface ornamented with alternate bands of polished work and scrollwork and its apex surmounted by a scrollwork-ornamented urn.
A is the base of the stove, which is substantially rectangular' in its general outline, with the corners rounded and curving gradually upward and inward to the base of the firepot. In the rounded corners of the base A legs B are secured, so that the upper portions thereof join with and form the corner portions of the skirting C. The front of the base A comprises an ash-box door D, provided with two projecting octagonal registers d d, which have closed fronts and operating handles thereon.- The stove-base A, the skirting C, the legs B, and the ash-box door D are covered with raised ornamental scrollwork E, with a narrow smooth kband e at the top of the skirting C, extending from the sides of the door D around the sides and back of the stovebase.
F is the cylindrical body of the stove, the sides and back of which are sheet-iron, which is mounted upon the top of a cylindrical vertically-fluted fire-pot G. From the lower part of the stove-body F there is a flange f, curv` ing outward and downward. To the upper surface of this flange f is secured the upper portions of brackets I-I, consisting, substan- 6o tially,of central sections h,having ornamental foliate-work on the surfaces thereof and eX- tending downward and flaring outward at their lower ends, where they join to and support a smooth oval foot-rail I. From the sides and upper part of the central portions h of the brackets H open scrollwork h projects, so as to form an open scrollwork-screen over the upper surface of the flange f and around the greater portion of the fire-pot G.
The front section of the upright body F of the stove comprises the sides and top of a frame J, ornamented with raised scrollwork, a lower door K, hung in said frame and having an octagonal register 7c in the center thereof, which register has a closed front and an operating-handle thereon. The surface of this door K around the register 7c is ornamented with raised scrollwork 7c. An upper door L is also hung above the door K in the frame J, the surface of this door L being provided with a rectangular-shaped name-plate panel L, cover-ing the greater portion of the front of said door, the remainder of the surface of said door around said name-plate panel being ornamented with raised scrollwork ZA.
M is the top of the stove, which is conical 'in its general contour, the lower portion thereof consisting of a smooth oval band m, which 9o projects outward beyond and overhangs the upper portion of the stove-body F, and joining the upper edge of this band mis an ovalshaped band fm', curving inward and upward,
the surface of which is ornamented with raised -surmounting the stove-top M, the surface of this band m3 being ornamented with raised scrollwork. The edge of the base n of the urn N is ornamented with shellwork and the IOO sign for the front section of the stove-body, substantially as shown and described.
4. In a design for a heating-stove, the de sign for the stove-top, substantially as shown and described.
5. The design for a heating-stove, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EDWARD G. GERMER.
