UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS It. KENNEDY, OF ROCHESTER, NEIV YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE OO-OPERATIYE FOUNDRY COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,075, dated July 19, 1898.
Application filed June 11, 1898. fierial No. 683,231. Term of patent '7 years.
To a, whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS E. KENNEDY, of Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Heating- Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanyin drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing is a perspective view of a stove, showing my design.
The leading feature of my design consists of the particular shape and surface ornamentation of the stove as a whole and also of the shape and ornamentation of the separate sections hereinafter described.
1 indicates the base of the stove, having the legs 2 and covered with the eonventionalized scroll-andleat' ornamentation, above which and extending along the front and sides of the base is abar 3, having rounded or knobbed ends. Above this base is the top base-seetion 4, having the plain rounding sides 5 ornamented at the center with the scrollwork 6 and at the corners with the scroll-and-leaf ornamentation 7 above the plain band 8, as shown.
The ash-pit section comprises the ash-pit door 9, having the damper-openings 10 and the intermediate decorated portions 11 between said openings and at the ends. Arranged upon the sides and supported in ornamental open-work brackets 12 are the side rails 13, having the eonventionalized leaf ornamentation at the center and the scroll pattern 14 extending from the center to the ends.
The top plate of the ash-pit section (inclicated by 15) is ornamented upon the corners by the pattern 16.
The central or body portion of the stove has the slightly-rounded band or zone 17, ornamented at 18, next the corner-posts, and above and below this band are the upper and lower front doors 19 20, each having the ornainental strips forming mica-openings, and similar doors 21 and 22 are placed at the sides, having the strips forming mica openings. The strips 23, forming these openings, are curved outward and are ornamented at their intersection, as shown at 21-, and at the corners of the doors is placed a small leaf ornament 25. Above the upper front door is an outwardly-rounding panel 26, covered with a scroll ornamentation, while at the upperportions of the sides of the body of the stove are panels 27, having the conventionalized leafand-scroll ornamentation, as shown. The top section at the under side curves upward and outward to the plain band 28 and is decorated upon the four sides by a repeated leaf pattern 29, as shown. The upper side of this section is curved inwardly from the band 28 and covered with leaf ornamentation at the corners and scroll pattern 30 extending from the corners and rearward on the sides.
31 indicates the cover, having the plain band 32 at the bottom, with the rounded surface 33 above it decorated with the scroll ornamentation, as shown, and surmounted by an urn-like ornament 34, supported upon a circular pedestal and having handles 35 of scrollwork at the sides.
I claim 1. The design for a heating-stove, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. In a design for a stove, the design for the base, substantially as shown and described.
3. In a design for a stove, the design for the ash-pit section, substantially as shown and described.
