DESIGN FOR A COOKING-RANGE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,526, dated January 12, 1897'.

Application filed November 21, 1896. Serial No. 613,032. Term of patent 3 years.

Be it known that I, FRANK A. KLAINE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Newport, in the county of Campbell, State of 5 Kentucky, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Cooking-Stoves, of which the following is a specification.

My design for a cook stove or range is fully illustrated in the accompanying drawing,

The leading features of my design are the foliated scrollwork formed on the base, the scrollwork on the oven-door and the damperslide, and the support for the mantel-shelf.

The base is quadrangular in form and mounted on suitable legs. The edge of the base is ornamented with a scroll of the pattern shown, there being a leaf-like form a eX- tending down each leg, and there being two counterpart oppositely-extending scrolls a' a2 extending along the front side of said base edge from about the center to opposite corners. On the side edges of the base two oppositely-extending scrolls a3 a4 are intertwined with and connected by an intermediate scroll-like form a5.

The oven-door B has a centrally-arranged shield-like space B', surrounded by scrolls, there being two main scrolls, each having one i member extending partly over the top of said space B, as at b, and another member b eX- tending along one side and partly under said space B. The inner adjacent ends of the members Z) of said scrolls are separated by an elliptcaleshaped form b2, while the lower portions of the members h of said scrolls are intertwined with another scroll or scrolls, h3.

Ornamental shield-like spaces surrounded by scrollwork are formed on the fire-door O and the ash-door D, as at c cl.

The damper-slide is ornamented with a series of connected elliptic curves e.

The mantel-shelf F has compound-curved supports f', connected by a perforated connection f with the back plate at their centers, and said mantel-shelf is surmounted by an ornamental plate Gr, having two main scrolls g g', arranged on opposite sides of and almost surrounding a central ligure h of the form shown.

What I claim isl. The design for a cook stove or range substantially as herein shown and described.

2. In a design fora cook stove or range the oven-door as herein shown and described.

3. In a design for a cook stove or range the mantel support as herein shown and described.

4. In a design for a cook stove or range the damper-slide herein shown and described.
