DESIGN FOR A BASE FOR RANGES OR COOKlNG-STOVES.

To all whont it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE E. WILBUR, a citizen of the United States, residingin Taunton, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Base of a Range or (looking-Stove, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.

The drawing represents a view in perspective of the base of a range or cooking-stove having my new design.

The material features of the design reside in the general shape of the base, whereby it is given height, fullness, and richness. The appearance of height is obtained because it is wider from top to bottom than is usually the case. Fullness is provided by the outwardly-rounded surfaces of the base, which are curved outwardly between their upper and lower edges, and the richness is obtained because of the arrangement of the ornamented sections with respect to the plain sections and also because of the nature of the ornamentation.

The front section of the base has three plain efiects a a cfi-that is, they are outwardlycurved sections having no ornamentation. The corners of are heavily ornamented by conventional stem andleaf effects in two branches, the stem extending from the lower corner and separating into two parts, one of which extends upwardly and outwardly toward the corner and the other horizontally and downwardly. The corner effect is also produced in part by an ornamental figure 0. upon the range-leg, which extends upon the base at the corner. This range-leg figure consists of a central hourglass-shaped section from which radiate leaf scrolls or effects and which bear the relation to the central figure shown in the drawing, the whole forming an ornamental lower corner to the base.

The design a is at the center of the long side of the base and is in the nature of a rich border, with leaf-scrolls at its lower edge, suggestive of leaf effects at the top, the border being in two sections separated at the top and bottom by fan-shaped figures oppositely arranged. The sections also have a molded effeet, which is carried into the corner figures, and a bead effect, which is also found as border along the upper edge of the base. The lower edge of the base is a heavy horizontal molding. The ornamentation of the ends of the base is like that of the front, excepting that there is no central figure or design.

Having fully described the design and its essential parts, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for the base of a range or cooking-stove, as herein shown and described.
