DESIGN FOR A COOKING-STOVE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,586, dated. November 1, 1898.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS I. RANKIN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a certain new and useful Design for a Cooking-Stove, of which the following is a specification.

My design for a cooking-stove is fully illustrated in the accompanying drawing, the figure of which represents the stove in perspective.

The essential feature of the design is the peculiar form of the scrollwork on the base, doors, and shelf-support.

The ornamentation of the base A consists of a central raised figure a, having C-shaped scrolls a at each side and elongated scrolls a extending from a base a Short scrolls project from the scrolls enumerated above. At

\ each corner of the apron of the base is a fanlike figure a, from each side of which extend scrolls.

The ornamentation of each foot A is in keeping with the ornamentation of the base.

Surmounting the base is an ornamental band (L The ornamentation of the oven-door B consists of a central panel having square lower corners and rounded at the top. Within this panel is a star-shaped figure above a scrollloop. The outer end of the panel is also figured with small scrolls. On each side of the panel are large scrolls commencing at the base and extending up to the upper portion of the door, as clearly illustrated.

The fire-door C has a scroll arranged diagonally across the door.

The ash-pit door is ornamented by two sciolls arranged diagonally, one crossing the 0t or.

The panel of the hot-water compartmentD has interlocked scrollwork, as illustrated.

The mantel-shelf support E is made up of a series of joined scrolls. Two C-scrolls e e are arranged face to face at the center, and extending from each side at the base are S- scrolls e. Directly above the C-scrolls is a fan-like design 6 surrounded by scrolls, and above the mantel-shelf has an ornamental rim in keeping with the ornamentation of the support.

The other parts of the stove are ornamented in keeping with the parts described.

6. In the design for a cooking-stove, the mantel-shelf as herein described and as shown in the accompanying drawing.
