DESlGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,423, dated December 23, 1890.
Application filed September 8,1890. Serial No. 364,353, Term of patent 336 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, llENRY CLAY BASUOM and FRANCIS RITCHIE, citizens of the United States, residing, the said BASCOM at the village of Lansingbnrg, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York, and the said RITCHIE at the city of Troy, in said county and State, have invented andproduccd a new and origi- -.nal Design for Heating-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof, and consisting of a single figure, affording a view in perspective of our newlydesigned stove.
Theleading fcai'uresof our new design consist in the novel configuration and ornan1c11- tation.
Our newly-designed stove comprises a cylindrical combustion-chamber A, separated by the circular flange A from a lower upwardly-flaring fire-pot A having a corrugated exteriorand surmounted by a circular top A The combustion-chamber is provided with the doors A and A, one above and contiguous to the other. The corrugations entirely surround the firebox and extend vertically the whole length of the same to the circular flange A which has plain unornamented surfaces. The tire-pot rests upon the circular base A which separates it from the circular ash-pit A and the legs A extend from the lower edge of the case and the upper edgeof the ash-pit downward, partially inclosing the sides of the ashpit. The ash-pit is provided with a door-A and the fire-pot is surrounded by a ring A, connected with the base by the posts A. lhe surface of the upper part of the circular base is concaved and provided with an ornamerit consisting of a succession of oppositelycurving cornticopias B so connected by foliated trailing stems B as to form connecting parts of continuous waving vine-work eneirclin the stove. The stove-top has its middle horizontal division B dome-shaped and encircled by a decoration like that on the base, consisting of a succession of oppositelyeurving cornucopias B so connected by foliated trailing stems B as to form connecting parts of continuous waving vine-work extending horizontally around the dome-shaped division. Beneath the middledome-shapeddivision is a horizontal band B of scale scrollwork encircling the top. The legs have a central leaf ornament B and scrollornanient B on the opposite vertical sides. The ashpit door is provided with a horizontal row of oval-shaped draft-openings (1 and honeysuckle ornaments G, the openings alternating with the ornaments. The lower door of the combuslion-chamber is provided along its lower part with a horizontal row of draft-open ings I) and on its npperpart with a panelD, having the form of an arc of a circle, with a leaf ornament D above and below each end of the panel. The upper door of the combnstion-chamher is provided with a horizontal row of mica openings F along the middle of the door, each opening having a foliated border with a patera l in each of the upper corners of the door.
What we claim as new is 1. The design for a heatingstove herein shown and described, consisting of a cylindrical combustion-chamber having two contiguous doors, one above the other, an upwardly-flaring fire-box having a corrugated exterior surface extending entirely around the same, the corrugations extending Vertically the whole length of the fire-box to acircnlar flange with plain nnornarnented surfaces, which separates the fire-box from the combustion-chamber, a dome surmounting the combustion-chamber,acircular base having its upper surface concaved, located beneath the fire-box, an ash-pit and legs partially inelosing the pit beneath the base, a ring inclosing the fire-box, and posts connect ing the ring with the base.
2. Inadesign for heating-stoves, the design for an ash-pit door herein shown and de scribed, consisting of a horizontal row of ovalshaped draft-openings and honeysuckle ornaments, the openings alternating with the crnaments.
3. In a design torheating-stoves, the design for a leg herein shown and described, eonsistingof a central leaf ornament and a scroll ornament on the opposite vertical sides.
4. In a design for heating-stoves, the design for a door herein shown and described, con
Hlsting of a panel having the form of nn nrc l nfa circle, with a leaf ornament above and for a door herein shown and described, coir 1 nu-ulul design for a top herein shown and described, consisting of a succession of oppoj sitely-curving cornueopias so connected by foliated trailing stems as to form connecting,
sisting of a horizontal row of draft-openings i along the middle of the door, each opening having a foliated border, with a patem in each of the upper corners of the door.
6. In a design fora heating-stove, theornnmental design for a base herein shown and I described, consisting of a succession of oppo- 1 sitely-curving cornucopias so connected by foliated trailing stems as to form connecting parts of continuous waving vine-work.
7. In :1 designfornheatingstove, theornnparts of continuous waving vine-work extending horizontally around the dome -shaped middle division of the top, with a lowerhorizontall band of scale scroll-Work encircling the top.
In testimony whereof We have hereunto set our hands this 6th day of September, 1890.
