DESIGN FOR A STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,724, dated October 12, 1897.
Application filed November 27, 1896. Serial No- 613,699. Term of patent 14 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, HENRY CLAY BASOOM, residing at Lansingburg, and EDWARD AM- BROSE, residing at Troy, Rensselaer county, State of New York, citizens of the United States, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, illustrating a stove embodying the elements in our design.
In our design the stove is made up of sections, each of form and with ornamentations as herein described.
Ais the base portion of the stove, which por tion is rectangular in form and has rounded corners, with which legs a a seem to be integral and appear to terminate at the evoluteform scrolls a a, which form the corner-decorations of this section. These evolute scrolls have palmette terminals a running inwardly toward the middle of each side portion of the side base and receive between them the inverted palmette ornament a 13 is the superbase-plate, also of rectangular form and smaller dimension than base portion A, and has its corners rounded and convex sloping side surfaces bearing a band of palmette ornaments b b in oblique arrangement at opposite angles, as shown, while its lower border is with plain surfaces.
O is the ash-pit-wall portion, also of rectangular form and having rounded corners and sides which are convex in vertical direction and bearing in its side portions a central palmetto ornament 0 between the foliate ornaments o c of the rounded corners of said wall portion, as shown.
O is the ash-pit door, having convex vertical bars and ornamented by foliate ornaments 0 D is a divisi0n-plate separating the ash-pitwall portion from the wall portion surrounding the fire-pot above, which plate is rectangular in outline of form and has rounded corners and flattened convex upper side surfaces bearing palmetto-form ornaments d and having a plain lower edge border (1.
E is the wall portion which surrounds the fire-pot and comprises the rounded vertical corner-posts e, having plain surfaces, and the side rows of bosses e e, and the doors F.
The doors F are convex in both vertical and horizontal directions and are hinged each to a post 6. These doors are each of openwork form and comprise the lower, upper, and side bars f, horizontal cross-bar f, and vertical cross-barsf f and the two reversed similar foliate scrolls f f which each partly cover the openings between the crossing bars f and f f and the mica openings between.
G is a division-band-form part arranged between the wall E, surrounding the fire-pot, and the wall of combustion-chamber H above. This division-band piece bears a scale-form ornamentation g, bounded above and below by horizontal border-beadings g g.
H is wall portion which incloses the combustion-chamber and comprises the cornerpieces h and doors H, hinged each to a cornerpiece.
The doors I-I are each convex in both a horizontal and vertical direction and are openwork in form of construction, with its lower end in a straight horizontal line, sides parallel, and upper ends arching and comprising besides the outer framing-bars t t the vertical bars 2" z" and horizontal cross-bars 2' t These doors H are ornamented each by two reversed foliate scrolls '6 2' having portions crossing bars 2" t" and t 01 and running over portions of the mica openings in the lower, upper, and side rows and leaving the central opening substantially wholly uncovered.
I is the close upper end wall portion of the combustion chamber, which portion bears over each door H the shell-form ornament j and projected corners ornamented by rolled scrolls j at each side, with downwardly-ex tended palmette terminals j K is the base of the dome, having a rectangular form and with rounded corners, and is mounted on the upper end of the combustionchamber section. It is made with an inclining convex surface 70, having a plain lower border-skirt it and bearing in each cornerquarter a palmette-form ornament 10 L is the central dome, of oblong form and oval, having a convex surface extending from the horizontal upper plane to the plain lower border-band m. Each quarter of this central dome bears a palmetto ornament Z.
What We claim is 1. In a design for a stove, the design for the base portion and legs integral therewith, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. In a design for a stove, the design for l the door H, of the combustion-chamber of the superbase portion B, substantially asherein shown and described.
3. In a design for a stove,- the design, for the ash-pit portion 0 substantially as herein shown and described. 7
4. In a design for a stove, the design for the ash-pit door 0, substantially as herein 3 the base K of the dome,substantia1ly as shown and described.
shown and described.
5. In a design for a stove, the design for the division-plate D substantially as shown and described.
6. In a design for a stove, the design for the wall portion E of the fire-pot section, substantially as shown and described.
7. In a design for a stove, the design for the door F, in the wall portion E, substantially as shown and described.
8. In a, design for a stove, the design for the ornamental band G, adjoining and above the wall portion E, substantially as shown and described.
