DESIGN FOR PARLOR-STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,766, dated November 2, 1875; application tiled October 20, 1875. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, GURDON G. \VOLFE, NIcHoLAs S. VEDonR, and FRANCES RITCHIE, all of the city of Troy, in the county of itenssehier and State of New York, have jointly invented a new and original ornamental Design for Parlor-Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic and wood-cut representations.
One part of this invention consists of the design for the fire-pot section A of the stove, including projecting rings B and O at the top and bottom of that section, the same being of a horizontal circular form at the front and sides, and distinguished by the continuous general concave form of the front and side portions of said section A, from the upper ring B to the lower ring 0, substantially as shown in the aforesaid representations, and irrespective of minor details of form and ornamentation.
Another part of this invention consists of the design for the combined tire-pot section A, combustion-chamber section 1), and projecting rings 15, G, and F, the same being of a horizon tally convex or circular form at the front and sides, and distinguished by the continuous eoncave general shape of the front and sides of the fire-pot section A, from the ring B to the ring 0, in connection with the general domeshaped form of the section 1), from the ring 8 to near the projecting ring I, all substantially as shown in the aforesaid illustrative reprcseutations, and irrespective of minor details o form and ornamentation.
Another part of this invention consists of the design for the combined lire-pot section A, ash-pit section G, base-plate H, and projecting rings B and U, the same being of a general horizontally convex or circular form at the front and sides, and distinguished by the concave general shape of the front and side portions of the tire-pot section A, from the ring B to the ring 0, in combination with the concave shape of the front and side parts of the ash-pit section G, from the ring U to the base plate H, substantially as shown in the aforcsaid wood-cut and photographic representations, and irrespective of minor details of form and ornamentation.
Thisinventionconsists,further, ot'the design for the combined lire-pot section A, combustionchamher section I), aslrpit section G, base II, and projecting rings 13,0, and la, the same be ing of a general horizontally convex or circular form at the front and sides, and distinguished by the vertically concave general shape of the front and side parts of the section A, from the ring B to the ring 0, and of the section G, from the ring C to the base H, in connection with the general domelikc shape of the section D, from the ring B to near the ring F, all substantially as shown in the aforesaid representations, irrespective of minor details of form and ornamentation.
Another part of this invention consists of the design for the logs, composed of the two pairs of rev'erselvarrangod side scrolls a (t a it, with a row of beads along the inner edge of each scroll, and with the lower scrolls a a joined to the lcai b on the swelling middle portion of the body of the log, all so as to appear as represented in the aforesaid photograph.
Another part of this invention consists of the design for the base-plate H, composed of the outer molding 0, series of ornaments d, molding 0, series or ornmnentsf on a convex molding, tralisvcrsely-grooved molding g, and the inner convex molding It, all shaped and arranged together substantially as shown in the aforesaid representations.
Another part of this invention consists of the design for the outer portion of the segmental panels I of the ash-pit section, the same being of concave form and composed of the outer ornamental border a, in combination with the quadrilateral surface-j, surrounding aqnadrangnlar inner panel, and covered by the particular ornamentations represented thereon in the aforesaid photograph.
Another part of this invention consists of the design for the doors E of the fire-pot section, the same being composed of the two'light frame ll, concave from top to bottom, with the row of semi-globular ornaments in along the edge of each mica-light opening, and the series of ornaments it along the outer border of the frame Ir, and the central radiations 0 over and between the two mica-light openings, and all surmounted by the arched and scroll-orna mented cap piece p, and the whole shaped and combined so as to appear substantially as shown in the accompanying illnst rations.
Another part of this invention consists of the design for the doors J of the combustionchamber section 1), the same being composed of the three-light t'rame q, of convex l o:'!|i,\\'ltll the row ot' senitglobular ornaments ti along the edge of each mica-light opening, and the series of ornaments a along the outer border of the frame q, in combination with the surmounting part r, ha vingthe intaglio ornaments s thereon, and the arched and ornamental cappieee i, all shaped and arranged as shown in the aforesaid representations.
Another part of this invention consists of the design for the panel of the cylindrical up per section K, composed of the pair of tablets a it, having semicircular tops and bottoms, parallel sides, and angular corners, and with compound central ornamentations r thereon, all shaped and arranged substantially as represented in the aforesaid photograph.
Another part of our invention is the design for the border of the panels of the upper section K, the same consisting of the outer series of ornamentations (1, head 0, and top and bottom ornamented projections ef, all shaped and arranged substantially as shown in the aforesaid photograph.
Another part of this invention is the design for the urn L, shown only in the accompanying woodcut, the same being composed of the stem w, thick lenticular body .1, central spire y, and lateral turretszs, all shaped, ornamented, and combined so as to appear substantially as shown in the aforesaid wood-cut representation.
What we claim as our in vention is 1. The design for the tire-pot section A, including top and bottom rings B and (J, distinguished by the continuous concave shape of the fire-pot section from the ring B to the ring G, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for the combined fire-pot section A, combustion-chainber section I), and projecting rings B, (J, and F, distinguished by the concave shape of the firepot section from the ring B to the ring (J, in connection with the dome-like form of the combustion-cham ber section, substantially as shown and described.
3. The design for the combined fire-pol; section A, ash-pit section G, base LI, and projecting rings B and (J, distinguished by the concave shape of the fire-pot section from the ring B to the ring (J, in connection with the concave form of the aslrpit section from the rin; O to the base H, substantially as shown and described.
4. The design for the combined lire-pot sec tion A, ash-pit section G, base 11, combustionchamber section I), and projecting rings B, (1, and h, distinguished by the concave form of the tire-pot section from the ring B to the ring (J, in connection with the concave shape of the ash-pit section from the ring 0 to the base II, and the dome-like form of the combustioit chamber section, substantially as described and shown.
5. The design for the legs, consisting of the parts a a, a. a, and b, shaped and arranged together as shown and described.

9. The design for the doors J of the combus tion-ehamber section consisting of the frame q, with the rows of ornaments m n, the part 1, with the ornaments, and the cap-piece f, all shaped and arranged substantially as specified and shown.
10. The design for the panels of the upper section K, consisting of the tablets u u, having the compound central ornaments 'v, and all shaped and arranged as shown and described.
11. The design for the border of the panels of the upper section, consisting of the ornamentation at, head 0', and top and bottom ornamental projections c f, all shaped and disposed as shown and described.
12. The design for the urn L, consisting of the stem 10, body as, spire y, and turrets z z, all shaped, arranged. and ornamented substantially as shown and described.
