Description

DRAW I NG PAGE UNQv'A I LPUBLE DOCUMENT-RUMBER UNITED STATES JOHN REIFFENSTEIN, OF SYRACUSE,
PATENT OFFICE.
NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE SYRA- GUSE STOVE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESWIGN FOR A STOVE OR RANGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,120 dated February 15, 1887.
Application filed December 24, 1886. Serial No.222,5l2. Term of patent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN REIFFENSTEIN, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, in the State of New York, have invented a new Dcsign for Stoves, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying engraving, is a full, clear, and exact description.
The accompanying engraving is a perspective view of a cooking stove or range embody- IO ing my design in configuration and ornamentation.
K is the base; L, the warming-closet mounted thereon, above which is the range proper, M, and upon the top of the latter is the high shelf I 5 N. The horizontal projection k at the base, I embellish on its top surface by rectangular panels 0 0 o o and intervening circular panels,
p p p, all arranged in a row on the said surface. Across the central portion of each rectangular panel is a raised line or bar, 0", formed into a rectangular loop, and along the sides of this line are arranged a series of small raised circles, s, with depressed center. In the center of each of the circular panels is a rosette, u. The horizontal projection is, which forms the hearth beneath the oven-door and above the warmingcloset, is ornamented in same manner as the one already described.
The supporting-brackets of the high shelf 0 are arranged on either side of the smoke-flue, which forms the center, and have a triangular base, It, the interior of which is reticulated.
The upper part, T, of the bracket also approximates the triangularin shape, and is composed principally of a band, 12, formed into square and rectangular loops for the interior of the bracket, and then brought down in an irregular line toward the center to form the outer border. Within the loops are arranged rosettes 0 w, and in the upperinner corner of the bracket are arranged a series of spindles, 3 Between the base It and the upper-part,T,is interposed a post, a", in the center of which post is a ring, 2.
I ornament the front of the high shelf of the range by a panel, Q, surrounded by parallel embossedribs or lines d, and between said parallel lines are embossed segments e 6. Along the inner side of the inner line are scallops f. Inclosed by these scallops is an embossed monogram on an ornamented background.
The finish or cornice above the top shelf of the range I form of horizontal rails c o and four pedestals, g g g 9, between the rails,-thereby forming one central and two exterior panels.
of rosettes, h h, joined or connected together, and within the central panel a series of vertical spindles, i. Over the pedestals I place caps G, and above the central panel a looped band, H, extending along the top rail, between the caps of the inner pedestals.
Upon the top of the caps G and of the looped band H, I place heads a, for the purpose of further embellishing same.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
-1. In a stove or range, the design for hearth, consisting of rectangular panels and interven ing circular panels, all arranged in a row, on said base, a bar or line extended in the form of a rectangularloop across the central portion of each rectangular panel, small raised circles with depression in center along the sides of thesaid bar or line, and a rosette in each of I the circular panels, as shown.
2. The design for the exterior of a stove or range, consisting of apanel having a checkered internal field surrounded by a raised molding or border, substantiallyas shownanddescribed.
3. The design for the exterior of stoves and ranges, consisting of a panel having a checkered internal field, a molding surrounding said field, points or triangular projections on the exterior of the molding, and rosettes outside of said points, substantially as shown and described.
4. The design, in a cooking stove or range, consisting of the ornamentalsupporting-brackets of the high shelf, having the reticulated base, and the approximately triangular-shaped upper part, composed of a band formed into square and rectangular loops, with rosettes in the square loops, substantially as shown and described.
5. The design for the supporting-brackets of the top shelf of arange, consisting of the reticulated base, and the approximately triangularshaped upper part, composed of a band formed into square and rectangular loops, rosettes in the square loops, spindles in the corner of the Within the exterior panels I arrange a series bracket, the post interposed between the base and upper part, and the ring on the central portion of said post, substantially as shown and described.
6. The design, in a cooking stove or range, consisting of the ornamental panel on the face of the smokeflue of the high shelf, having the parallel embossed ribs, embossed segments between said ribs, and scallops along the inner side of the inner rib inclosing the monogram upon an ornamental ground, substantially as shown and described.
7. lhe design for the cornice above thehigh shelf of a range, consisting of the horizontal I5 rails, intermediate supportingpedestals, ro-
settes between the rails of the exterior panels, spindles between the rails of the central panel, caps over the pedestals, the looped band between the central oaps, and beads on top of the said caps and band, as shown.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name and affixed my seal, in the presence of two attesting witnesses, at Syracuse, in the county ofOnondaga, in the State ofNew York, this 27th day of July, 1886.
