INVENTOR- ls cum T. )ioub'oss,
WITNESSES M x W ATTORNER UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ISAAC T. MONTROSS, OF PEEKSKILL, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR PARLOR OR HEATING STOVE.
Specification forming part of Design No. [1,464, dated October 21, 1879; application filed Augustin), 1879. [Term of patent 3% years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ISAAC T. MONTROSS, of Peekskill, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have originated and designed a Parlor or Heating Stove, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
In the accompanying drawing, the letter A represents the bottom or base of the store, which is circular in form, and from this base rises an approximately frustum-shaped section, B, from Within the edge of said base, the said section being ornamented by a se ries of symmetrical circumferential flutes or beads, and a door following the contour of said section, and similarlyornamented. From the section B extends upwardly the lower light-section 0, having a series of doors, each having the form of the arc of a circle in hori zontal section, so that when closed they will, with the section 0, form a cylindrical connection between the section B and a section above.
The doors are provided with openings for micas, and are ornamented by means of regular and symmetrical diagonal tracery c, in imitation of woven fabric or braid, and the angles adjacent to the openings of the doors have an ornament, d, of any suitable description.
From the section 0 rises the firepot section consisting of a section of hemisphere, E, having numerous regular and symmetrical indentations and perforations c, and from this extends the upper light-section F, having doors G, which, when closed, form a horizon tal section of a hemisphere. The said section has a circular base, H, which projects over the upper edge of the section E, and forms an ornamental band in appearance.
The doors have each four apertures for micas, and are ornamented to correspond with She character of the ornamentation of the lower oors.
Surrounding and extending downwardly over the upper edge of the section F is an annulus, I, similar to the lower edge of the base H, which annulus has the appearance of an ornamental band at the junction of the section F and the column or dome section K above. Said dome section or column is cylindrical in its general contour, and is ornamented by means of four escutcheons, L, which are surrounded by scroll work M, forming in appearance a series of ornamental panels.
The dome section or column has extending over its top a flanged annulus, forming an ornamental band at the top of the said dome section. The said annulus is surmounted with a conical dome, P, having an urn at its apex. The said dome is ornamented by a series of symmetrical curves, and diminishes gracefully from its base to its apex.
The urn is surmounted by an ornamental frame, It, and is ornamented by a series of circumferential beads or curved bands, as shown.
The stove rests upon three legs, S, each having an escutcheon surrounding the same, of a character in harmony with the escutehcon and scroll-work on the dome section or columns.
What I claim is- The design for a stove herein shown and described, consisting of the base, composed of a circular section. from which rises a conical section, connecting with two sect-ions of a hemisphere by means of a cylindrical door section, the sections of the hemisphere being surmounted by a column having at its top a conical dome surmounted by an urn, the whole ornamented in the manner as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
ISAAC T. MONTROSS.
