II. CLAY BASCOM AND FRANCIS RITCHIE, OF TROY, NEW YORK, ASSlCNORS TO SAID II. CLAY BASCOM.
DESIGN FOR A PARLOR-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 15,646, dated December 30, 1884.
Application filed October 20, 1884. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that We, H. CLAY BASOOM and FRANCIS Rrrcnin, citizens of the United States, residing in the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselacr and State of New York, have jointly invented and produced anew and original Design for a Parlor-Stove, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying engraving of a 10 stove having. said design.
This design embraces several new and distinctive parts and combinations of parts which go to make up the whole design, as hereinafi ter specified. The vase represented on the [5 cover of the stove is not a part of this design.
One part is the shape and ornamentation of the cover A, consisting of the concave molding a, lower border, I), and the intermediate convexly-curved portion, 0, having the compound downWardly-spreading scroll-form ornaments c and the intermediate lower upwardly-spreadin g ornaments, 0 Another part is the ornamentation of the rectangular panels B of the cylindrical upper section, consisting 2 of the corner ornaments, d, each having the clulrform radiations extending from the t-rifid angle part, and the side ornamentations, 6, each having the central semi-rosette with flaring bat-form extensions along the border of the panel from opposite sides of the semi-rosette, and the rectangular panel ornament 0, having the series of ineut radiationsfff, all in the form of a rhomb, and the incut ornamentations g in the rectangular corner parts.
Another part embraces the shape and ornamentation of the illuminating-doors D, each being of an outwardly convex trapezoidal form, and having the three rows h ij of trapezoidal openings, which are separated verti- 0 cally by the three bars k, and horizontally by bars, of which the upper ones, 1, have semirosettes m in the openings of the upper row, and the lower bars, a, have the circular ornaments a in one lower corner of the openings 4 5 of the middle horizontal row, and the bars a crossing the openings of the lower row. Another part embraces the shape and ornamentation of the lower illumination-doors, F, each being in the form of a parallelogram curved convexly in the lengthwise direction, and having the upper row of there rectangular lightopenings, 8, with the arch s and semi-rosette s in each, and the six rectangular light-openings, t, in the lower row. Another distinctive part is the shape and ornamentation of the legs, consistingof the ornamented angular cap part or, and the downwardly-contraeted and concavely-eurved lower angular portion 1 having the circular corner ornaments, y, and the middle leaf ornament,
The whole design embraces the shape and ornamentation of the cover A, panels B 0, doors D F, casing ll, having the parts 3 q r, base-section G, having the parts a a o, plates H, having the ornaments 010,202, the divisionplates I J K, and the legs.
"We claim as new- 1. In a design for a stove, the shape and ornamentation of the cover A, consisting of the parts a b c c c", as shown and described.
2. In a design for a stove, the ornamentation of the rectangular panels B of the cylindrical upper section, consisting of the parts 01 e Cff'f g, substantially as shown and described.
3. In a design for a stove, the shape and or namentation of the illuminating-doors D, embracing the parts h i j lc Z in a a and o, as set forth.
4. In a. design for astove, the shape and or- 80 namentation of the illuminating-doors F, embracing the parts 8 s s and t as set forth.
5. In a design for a stove, the shape and ornamentation of the legs, embracing the parts a: y y 2, as set forth.
6. The design for a stove, embracing the parts ABCDEFGHI JK andthelegs, shaped and ornamented substantially as shown.
